I tried to give Heroman a chance after the Skrugg alien invasion arc, but everything still came down to Heroman waiting on Joey to scream his name/move before doing much of anything. Those types of shows have to work really hard to keep my attention, and Heroman ain't one of those that does. Maybe in the next arc.

Sounds darn good, Carl.
I like kids anime, or as you put it, tween.

Heroman sounds like Gundam 00, where it's just entertainment, plus a little more. But a little. Just... a little. Smile

I guess the only thing stopping me from watching are other projects, which happen to be long ones(Touch, Kekkaishi, Yakitate Japan!, Aura Battler, the last 14 eps of Brotherhood, Marmalade Boy, and the rest of 1st Gundam. It's a lot I know...)
Aside from that, I'm really looking forward to this season! Shiki, Highschool Zombie Fest, and Occult Parody!
It's the juice, juice-i-est time! Of the year!!! Laughing

The show has gotten significantly better in the last few episodes. It kind of reminds me of The Iron Giant with spoiler[Joey and Heroman running from the government]. Judging from the new opening, the Skrugg are coming back at some point.

Well said on everything, Carl--although I'm unsure which part of Holly's character was 'overprotective' of Joey. While she cares about him in her own way spoiler[and helped Joey escape that one night because he asked her to], she's mostly just a sadistic meddler. Anyway, I know I'm still hooked to this series, which continues to surprise me.

Martial trickery? Maybe, but stealth and deception, ugh. Joey, Denton, and Psy are pretty much inept at the rudimentary task of not drawing attention to themselves. spoiler[They've got a huge, distinctive RV, they create a completely pointless diversion that draws attention to people the agents didn't know they were looking for, and Heroman charges straight through a police barricade rather than have Joey quietly sneak through the woods.] There's more ridiculous plotting and counter-plotting in episode 14 that shattered my suspension of disbelief (Why would the military not be using encrypted transmissions from the start?). Also, it seems pretty clear to me that Dr. Minami is the new (mad-scientist) villain, and Hughes is really a pretty reasonable guy.

I thought the scene were everyone was spying on the date was stupid, especially since Joey proved to not be as socially inept as everyone thought him to be.

Pretty much this. While 8 through maybe Holly's first episode, things are pretty good. However, after that all the episodes serve to do is show how dumb everyone involved is, from the protagonists to Hughes to Minami. I know the show is dumbed down, but there's a difference between that what's going on. For instance, spoiler[After they break through the roadblock with Heroman in 13, causing a lot of damage in the process, the next episode shows a news report noting the damage. Joey instantly screams out "WE DIDN'T DO THAT! THEY DID!" with Psy and Prof. Denton agreeing with him No Joey, YOU broke through the barrier, remember? Ugh.] Hughes isn't any better. I realize it's something out of the cliche government handbook, but if he'd just gone up to Joey with "Dude, I know you have a robot. Just explain the situation", things would be much less problematic. Granted, we wouldn't have much of a show, but it'd be much less painful to watch.
