It is not explicitly stated.. but I'm wondering if there is also a blu ray release of BRS with subtitles...
Which would be the best... since Japanese DVDs are region 2 and cant be played on North American region 1 players...
However, blu rays are now coded differently and NA/Japan are both in Region A...
Meaning I can play the new Miku 39 Concert blu ray on my PS3
woot!!

uh.. anyway - here's hoping the Japanese release of BRS has english sub Anime hyper!

Kana Hanazawa in the cast!? HNNNNNNNNG!!!

I wonder if there is any story present in the OAV. Black Rock Shooter AFAIK is a song written for and sang by Hatsune Miku. Maybe there is more to it than I know.

This gets extremely confusing but the character in the song isn't Miku, but the character created by huke which has its own backstory and world.

There is no announced Blu-ray release.

This disc might be coded Region-0 since it is being targeted worldwide. (I didn't really poke for details so it wasn't clear if it is going to be one disc released worldwide or separate regional distributors or what.)

So, it might be distributed like Gundam Unicorn? Even though they're adding subtutles I assumed we'd still have to import it.

I'd buy it if it were under 50 to import.

There's a story, but I'd expect it to be pretty throwaway. This OVA is character promotion for the sake of selling figures.

They picked a hot subject with otaku (ryo/supercell + Hatsune Miku) and are out to exploit it in a rather unconventional way.

B-b-but this is ryo/supercell and huke we're talking about here!

Also, BRS is huke's original character, not Hatsune Miku. I can totally understand that BRS' design, is, uh, a little too similar to Miku's, though.

If I can buy Megami in the UK via Diamond resellers then you sure as heck should be able to.

Every major Japanese book store in the US stocks Animedia and that's not counting the places online that let you buy it. It will cost you $15+shipping or so at most.

I honestly don't know details. What was said is there are plans to make sure that everyone in the world would be able to see it and that includes worldwide streaming. It doesn't make much sense to make a 7 language DVD and only make it available through Japanese language magazines.

Just know that the shipping on these magazines is big. I got last month's Hobby Japan, and the shipping on it was over 3k yen. Thankfully, I got it from Hobby Search, which has an ongoing 50% off shipping sale.

Unfortunately, their pre-orders for the issue with the DVD closed, so you're going to have to pay $40+ for it... Though if $50 is your limit, you should be fine.

So, does this mean "Black Rock Shooter" is not going to be in Black Rock Shooter? That's...odd.
