Matsuno coming back gives me a glimmer of hope for Square as he is by FAR the most talented guy to enter the company since Sakaguchi himself. Hopefully if Let Us Cling Together does well he can finally finish the Ogre Battle Saga.

Oh, and Makoto is up for download with Blazblue. And she is AWESOME

It's too bad I don't own a PSP, but a remake of Tactics Ogre is definitely a good thing and something worth looking out for. Never did manage to finish the PSX port because of the terrible loading times and insane grinding but the story and the characters were quite engaging. The PSP continues to increase its library of interesting titles that, hopefully, I'll get the opportunity to play sooner or later even if everyone else has surely moved on to the next generation of consoles by that time.

The only other game that stands out for me is Street Fighter X Tekken, which sounds like the kind of project I'd be excited for if I wasn't hilariously rusty at fighting games these days. Laughing

I think you may have made a mistake. Unless they've been hiding it, Scott Pilgrim only has local multiplayer.

Tactics Ogre always was a savagely challenging game

I had to quit after the first few battles. Since the PSX version is so rare I was only able to experience it as a rental. The challenge didn't encourage me to go buy a copy for the long haul...

They shoulda made more copies. None of my FLGS had it in stock. Chains like Gamestop don't know anything about it.

It's so shameless that it will almost certainly work.

I've learned to respect Sanrio's merchandising genius. I've no doubt they'll be successful with their moe venture.

I dunno about you guys, but I'm seriously psyched about Scott Pilgrim. Both the movie and the game.

I really wish Capcom would release another Darkstalkers game. The last game that wasn't a re-release was Darkstalkers 3 in 1998, right? Here they are with a recent comic spin-off of it, but no new games on the horizon Mad

It's weird, but it feels like absolutely everything for this franchise is being handled perfectly. It's rare enough to have a movie that lives up to the source material, but to have the game based on the movie actually be good too...that's something. I mean Paul Robertson doing the animation and Anamanaguchi doing the music for the game?? And the cast for the movie is SO spot on, and Beck is on the soundtrack, along with Metric supplying the music for the Clash at Demonhead (Envy is partially based on Metric's lead singer). I'm so jazzed for the game and the movie.

That said, I don't think the movie will be a hit at the box office, though I hope I'm wrong. Like Edgar Wright's other movies, it'll probably gain a larger following after it's theatrical run. I really do hope it does well, but I know a lot of people will just think it's too weird or silly based on the commercials.

Why was Tekken X Street Fighter not mentioned in the section about Street Fighter X Tekken?

I think you're correct. Wishful thinking on my part.

It was a PSN exclusive, which may explain part of the reason why it never caught on here Anime hyper

Most of the remaining characters are on hand, though some are noticeably redesigned: Rider's a scar-faced redhead in pirate garb, and Saber's now wearing a red dress that's shockingly open at the front.

Well, that would be due to the fact that there are very few "remaining characters." The only "remaining characters" are Rin, Shinji, Archer (if chosen by the protagonist), and one of the Lancer options (there's two Lancers, I'm not sure what prompts one or the other).

Both Saber's (protagonist's or not), both Caster's, the non-protagonist Archer, and all of the other servants and masters are completely new to Fate/extra. Red Saber is spoiler[Nero], and the "scar-faced redhead in pirate garb" that is Rider is spoiler[Sir Francis Drake].

Tactics Ogre is a cult classic in Japan, and with good reason: it's a sweeping, challenging, highly complicated strategy-RPG with only a few flaws to deny it greatness. It's far less known in North America, where the only officially released version is a now-rare PlayStation port of the original 16-bit game.

Not so. There was also the GBA game Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis released by Atlus.

It's becoming apparent to me that I really do need a PSP from reading this column, a lot of the Japanese games seem to be released just for it.
Is there a specific model PSP that is best, and anything I need to be aware of?
Also, is there a regional block on PSP games?

No, and to the best of my knowledge, no.

For the PSP, just look for a nice bundle deal that comes with a game you might enjoy, the 2000 and 3000 series both have optional component out to play on a progressive scan tv.

And I know a few people who have imported PSP games, as well as a lot of the Bleach PSP fighters being available at Fry's Electronics stores, for around $70 last time I checked.
