Looks like we might be down to Redbox for rentals in my town if Blockbuster (the last Brick & Mortar video rental store left) shuts down. I guess VOD and Netflix has truly taken over, although I prefer to watch my shows on DVD/Blu-Ray. I used to Netflix, but they have become really poor at getting the new anime releases in lately. Not that Blockbuster provided my anime anyway (although I did rent most of what they had on hand back in the day).

All I can really say is "oh well". I live right next to a Hastings and they've always had tremendously better policies and selections then any Blockbuster I've ever been in

::smh::

And to think, long ago, Blockbuster once had an opportunity to buy up Netflix while they were still in their infancy.

Good riddance. I'm never one to cheer for a company to fall but this was coming for a long time now. It a matter of time before they wont even be around anymore.

Our local Blockbuster is a machine at Sheetz ~ surely those are not going to close down!

Troubled video-rental chain Blockbuster Inc. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, and said it plans to keep stores and kiosks open as it reorganizes.
OK, not right away at least.

Internet killed the video store ...

There's a Blockbuster box near my house otherwise. There's still oddly plenty of video stores in the Toledo area however (probably one of the last handouts in the country).

And to believe not so very long the FTC was afraid of Blockbuster developing a monopoly in it's industry (after the fall of Blockbuster was already in motion...)
