Well I'm quite sorry to hear that it sounds like Oreimo and TnC won't be simulcast here after all, guess I'll just wait and see if they get streamed or licensed a few years down the line. I understand where the Japanese companies are coming from and I'm glad that it sounds like ANN expects to bounce back but it does sound like a case of bad luck all around.
And I sincerely hope ANN is able to track down whoever hacked the site and sue their asses. Episodes leaked early by the studios are one thing, actively hacking a site certainly strikes me as even more malicious. |

Maybe you guys should stop doing simulcasts. You guys are an Anime portal, not a TV channel portal or Crunchyroll in the worst case, so you should stick with providing news about anime instead. |

Sad to hear, hope fans learn from this- you're giving a bad name for fandom as a whole, and we don't need fans like that anymore.
Hope ANN can find a solution, and bring both titles to us, and even if they can't, I still appreciate them for trying and their hardwork. Both them and Aniplex are the victims here, and deserve none of the rage dumped on them by angry, selfserving not-fans. |

Simulcast threaten the future of fansubs so it's no wonder that fansubbers will risk the future of anime to get rid of them. The only way to get through this is to dominate them, and make it so that legal streaming is the future.

To whoever it was that broke through security and leaked that episode...thanks, moron. Because of your over-inflated sense of entitlement which has no basis in reality, you screwed it up for the rest of us. I hope they do find you and I hope they do sue you.

In all honesty, I was kind of happy to see someone who was neither a dvd company nor CrunchyRoll getting into simulcasting- it meant the market was growing, and companies wanted to experiment and work with a site with a large fanbase like ANN [a fanbase not rooted in piracy unlike most popular anime social sites]. It meant another player, more potential, and room for more titles. And another outlet and funds for anime companies in Japan. I hope ANN doesn't give up on this because some stupid jerks broke into their servers and stole their shows. |

So they should just give up after one mistake? Sometimes things go wrong the first time you try something, but that doesn't mean you can't learn from it and try again. |

Not surprised the show is suspended. Even though I am not interested in the show this sucks for everyone involved. This may have been mentioned before but didn't this happen to Funimation before?

That's utterly infuriating. Fansubs have NO POINT anymore. Many fansubbers have even admitted that the reason they continue to do fansubs is just for "internet glory points." I can't believe that some people are so ignorant as to help send an industry to its grave over their desire for praise on the internet. Maybe these thieves should find something more constructive to do with their time. |

Well, it took 4 days but I think it's now safe to say that everyone should be (more than) satisfied by Chris's comments tonight.
You still have my support, ANN. I'm wishing all the best for you guys in the next few weeks, so you can hopefully put these frustrating last couple of days behind. On the bright side, you probably know more by now on the way the Japanese do business than you ever did. Here's the thing though -- as far as my fansubbing days have gone, I know I can download fansubs and watch them anytime. Streaming and Simulcasting have no download options, so it's inconvenience for me. |

Y'know, while I imagine it was just someone being a jerk on their own, that level of maliciousness sounds entirely possible, and when you consider all the for profit piracy sites out there, I imagine that there are some who feel very threatened by sites offering legit streams. I'm tired of the hatred in anime fandom- the hating of the creators, the hating of the production companies, the hating of the licensors, and all the self-entitled idiocy it's rolled up in. I'm tired of the attitudes that lead to endless forum fights because someone wants something for nothing and gets mad if anyone tells them otherwise, even the creator [see Yana Toboso] , rather then just friendly chats about shows and releases and stuff. Do people have to get that hateful about it? Just look at the endless posts from OneManga freeloaders on Deb Aoki's article about that site's closure. I'm tired of malicious acts like breaking into ANN's servers or Funi's and ruining something that's being offered to people for *free* simultaneously with the Japanese broadcast. Anime/Manga's online fandom is horrifically venomous, poisonous to honest fans, publishers and artists. It needs to change. There's stuff we've put up with for so long now, that is getting harder and harder to ignore or forgive. What you do is your business, but when the negative affects start overwhelming everyonelse and have such harmful affects on the creators, and when you continue doing it even after they start just giving you *everything* for free with streaming services, you stop being a fan and start being a problem. Not saying we should take torches and pitchforks with us to anime cons, just saying people need to reevaulate how they enjoy their fandom, they need to examine it's affects on others, and have to have some empathy for the people who make it and people like ANN who try to bring it to us.
