I hope this comes out here.

That's not good, is it?
Well I assume Funimation got something out of this for trading in the English Audio track.

Finally, the Blu-Ray release that most people have been begging for.

But I must say, good Lord with $322 price tag. Although maybe this'll be the wake-up call to the people who consider $45 to much for 13 episode box set.

Given how popular the series is here I don't see why they shouldn't bring this out in the US, especially with the price tag.

Ah, okay. I saw "BD Box" and people saying $322, so I thought, "No way. That's way too cheap for Japan". So then I clicked the article and saw that was only for the first half. That makes a lot more sense.

At first I was all: RAAAAAAAAWR! I JUST BOUGHT HALF OF THE SERIES ON DVD WHEN I COULD HAVE POSSIBLY GOTTEN IT ON BLUE-RAY!! I SUCK!

And then I realized it would be from Japan and I saw the price tag. Now I feel better. All is well in the world.

I'm just LMAO right now.

Glad I'm one of those umpire-types with poor eyesight who thinks that the upscales my PS3 does on regular DVDs looks just fine.

Here's Funi's reaction:

Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

Gen Fukunaga: ......gentlemen, lets make some money.

Everyone else: Nods head.

I REAAALLY hope this is a wake-up call to those people that think that. I get anime DVDs nowadays can be expensive for many people to get (I'm one of them and it's not that I don't believe anime on home video today is ultimately a cheaper value than single discs before), but they have NO idea how easy we have it here compared to Japan.

Though something just hit me. Was Soul Eater animated, composited or whatever in HD or is this release on of those Blu-ray upscale things?

I'm pretty sure Soul Eater was broadcasted in HD.

Though it may be that weird 570(?)p that Bones has been known to use in other shows like FMA:B

The Japanese studios usually are a part of the dub casting process and usually have the last say as to which actor is chosen for the role. There have been quite a few instances where the anime studio specifically want a certain actor for a role. I hear that's what happened with JYB and Code Geass. People have even complained about dubs using accents, like in Black Butler, but it's usually the Japanese who want those accents in the voices.

It is an HD native. You can even see it in the bluray trailers on Funimation's blurays. Funi already has the HD aster, they just can't legally release it yet because the studio wants to get as much money as possible in the Japanese market before we get it at a lower price and Japanese people start importing.

Finally. Hopefully I can afford this.

Check out the Soul Eater preview on FUNi's Eva 1.11 Blu-ray for a little sample of how awesome this is going to look.

same here. still makes me glad I'm not an anime fan inside Japan, even if that WAS the price of the whole series it'd be a heck of a lot more affordable to get a domestic release.
