sad that K-on!! won tv award....I'm not a big hater like a lot of people that hate it just to hate it but K-On!! just wasn't THAT good..especially compared to K-On! last year. Moe must really have some special hypnotist power on Japanese.

only my railgun is awesome tho

I think a lot of non-japanese anime fans just don't "get" the K-ON!! franchise or similar shows in general. They're bashing the series because its content is apparently shallow, it reeks of "moe", cute characters doing stupid (lesbian) things, ect. But you know, when you're working as much as a average japanese person, say 65 to 75 hours a week, you're not really bound to watch some hyper complicated and dark anime back from work at home but rather just glad so watch some silly anime about cute girls doing activities you remember having done or observed in your own high school years. And besides that, K-ON!!s production values are good to very good, one can't deny that.

Hurray for "railgun" my favorite song from last year

I'm not surprised K-ON!! won best anime, it's a very good series. Many say the first one was better, but it's basically the same thing.

I can't really tell about Haruhi; don't like much that franchise and haven't seen the film.

Kinda disappointed that Disappearance won over Time of Eve, but eh, it's just a popularity contest.

Hey it's the otaku pleasing awards again where unless Newtype, Animage, ASCII, Mediaworks and/or Animedia (magazines that target mecha and moe otaku) has a stake in your product you need not even apply. Always a larf. Laughing

Let's see....for the first time I can recall they actually picked a song I find somewhat listenable, but it's all politics and a fluke since I don't think they can go with a K-On song if they're already using it for TV series. Guess it works as next in line since Railgun is huge with the 2ch crowd. Miku, K-On, Haruhi....all recurring otaku hits (the former just being an absolute monster on 2ch and niconico), wouldn't expect much else really. Summer Wars was a big seller so I guess Mamoru Hosada can work as the non-otaku pleaser award they tend to give at least one of each year to make the whole thing seem a little less obvious. Usually it's director.

The only one I think they definitely fudged (and this is saying something since the whole thing is kind of a fudge year after year) was Studio Biho. As far as I can tell they didn't do a single bit of BG work this year besides Super Robot Wars: The Inspector which just debuted so unless they can magically see into the future or just pulled the name out of a hat (more likely the latter) then there's no tangible product to even acknowledge them for.

See you again next year for some more moe moe otaku awards. That is all.

Oh yah! Railgun'd!

...It's awesome because it's Engrish..."Looking! The blitz loop this planet to search way, only my railgun can shoot it"... Anime catgrin + sweatdrop Gotta love the show, though. Hence the "railgun'd."

What other best-selling, well-animated anime TV series premiered this year?

I wouldn't call Bakemonogatari well-animated...it's mostly people standing around and talking. But I'd argue it's a great show because of the dialogue.

Yeah, Kobe animation isn't really a measure of quality or originality, look to the Media Arts Awards for that. Generally, though, it does pick usually good things, if not the best. There have only been a handful of series and movies to receive Kobe nods that I've gone "WTF? This was horrible!" over.

But yeah, I want to see Summer Wars far more than Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya. I mean, I want to see them both, but Summer Wars wins by a mile.
