Never have Hisashi Hirai's designs been so abused.

*gasp* No... not that! Not my favorite character designer's handiwork!!!
Shocked

Hmm... well it seems to me that this is like an Elemental Gelade: Fun; maybe, interesting; eh... so-so, pretty; eh... so-so, promising; eh... so-so, worth it?;......................no comment.

Sound about right? Well... with this review in tow, I feel I should postpone my sampling on this and aim my interest unto Shangri-La.

Unless... anyone thinks otherwise?

I disagree, This show has a good thing going with the plot. Also, the characters aren't all that generic. On top of that you have a pretty convincing anti-hero as the main character. The last anti-hero prodogist show I've seen was very good (Code Geass). I would give this show the benefit of the doubt.

Man, I can't tell you much I was unable to stand Hisashi Hirai's design after SEED Destiny.

You know, I thought this show had started out good....but it didn't turn out that great at the end. It gave off the air of a cliche anime, but without actually being a cliche anime. I know that sounds weird but that's the best way I can think of it.

Same here. Though no doubt that however Code Geass is definitely superior to Linebarrels of Iron.

But it's a preety good series and having a main that's a serious anti-hero is a good thing for a series and I like this anti hero,

HOWEVER he's no Kenta from Desert Punk who is probably the KING OF ANTI HERO.

From what I've heard L. of Iron's hero spoiler[almost immediately abuses his power for no reason than to "get them back", only for him to learn along the way the right ways to use it.]

Lelouch is nothing like that. His goals are fueled out of love. His ultimate plan revolves/revolved around spoiler[Nunnally's safety]. Which in turn made the 1st season(and the 2nd season too in a way)'s ending so human and practical.
"For having the power of a king, that doesn't make him any less human".
That's what I got from Code Geass, and one of the key reasons I label it a "Masterpiece".

If Linebarrels of Iron is anything like that then... sign me up!!! Wink

Unfortunately that's NOT the case.

L of Iron's main is a lot more like Kenta from Desert Punk which is actually a good thing ( for fans of anti heroes) .

Would have been disapointed if he was like CG's Lelouch ,

though I definitely would not want L of Iron's main to become like Death Note's Light Yagami ( which some time ago in the forums people were comparing lelouch to.)

<-----Dreads the eventual Geass vs Death Note vs Anything debate.

Anyways, this show looked mildly interesting but this review pretty much put the nail in the coffin in the idea of seeing it. I'd rather invest my time and money elsewhere

That's the thing, I don't like the reviewer. He also did Soul Eater and made it sound worse then it actually was. It's like he only reviews the shows he hates. So I wouldn't pay too much attention to this review.

Having watched it, I kinda agree. But I would give it a 5 episode watch as the opening episodes are very different from how the series eventually turns out.

Well I like Carl even when I disagree with him so at the very least when he says that a show I already think looks extremely mediocre probably won't be worth my time, I can more or less trust him on it.

Interesting how you thought the show was "mildly interesting" in your initial post but when challenged on it the show went to looking "extremely mediocre".

The beginning of KnL is a little slow, but once it gets going it pretty good and the characters, especially the main character, are a refreshing change.

It's an extremely mediocre looking show that looks mildly interesting, but definately not enough to get me to watch or buy it, there you happy now? I don't want to be vague on the symantics at all.

I wasnt unhappy to begin with so Im afraid your questionable clarification leaves me largely unaffected. But I'll drop it there, dont want to get bogged down in semantics.
