ANN Thanked me for a News Tip?! Very Happy

Anyways, I'm glad to know they will be doing digital and print for SJ magazine. Hmm... Really can't wait to read Nura! Very Happy

EDIT
Quote:
"It was time for a new look and feel," he said. "The world of reading, magazines, and manga have changed a lot in the past two to three years." He stated that Shonen Jump will integrate both digital and print distribution as much as possible rather than shifting focus away from print.
I'm really glad they won't shift focus away from print. Personally, I prefer reading my manga in my hand instead of digital... Though, that's just me. Wink

Nice news! I really liked this when I read about it in SJump- for the very very low price of a SJump subscription, you get both a monthly 300-isg page magazine and an online subscription. It's a great valueWith this, Viz will have-
-an online manga subscription program w/a print component
-an Ipad application selling full volumes
-free ad-based online magazines serializing manga weekly [Sunday] and monthly [SigIkki]

All of which eventually see print collected volumes.

It's a pretty nice range of formats overall.

Digital supplement eh? Sounds like a great idea. For those of us that like physical media, me included, can pick up the actual manga in book form once it gets released. The digital aspect opens worlds of possibilities, and I'm hoping Viz will explore them head-on. Of course, I'm thinking simultaneous release ala Rinne.

They had to do something. Their page count dropped about 200 pages an issue in the last year. Yu Yu Hakusho finished, they went from seven monthly titles to four, and basically their only selling point is nearly up-to-date Naruto and One Piece. Bleach is further along in the anime even after the multi-month hiatus. I've been a subscriber since Issue 2, and even with this, I'm seriously debating re-upping. With the books coming out every 2-3 months, is SJ even worth it anymore? I don't even read Ultimo, and the gaming news is stuff I got from Nintendo Power and Game Informer months before. The card game stuff drew me nine years ago when they launched, but a shiny promo card isn't enough for me anymore. Honestly, unless they can offer more than this, I'll wait for the One Piece tankobon and get Naruto and Bleach from the library. Shonen Jump was my entry into manga and anime, but I kinda think I've outgrown it. Sad but true.

Well I'm glad though was not susprised that 5d's were to be licensed by them.

Unfortunately I was hoping that they did a Funi and FINALLY rescued the entire yugioh series from the horror that is 4kids.

Sure their version is not bad and all but their ridiculous censorship for small things and such is so so stupid . It's their annoying editing and censors that may please parental advocates but it's upseting the hardcore anime fans and giving dubs in general a really bad name.

I for one as well as most people blame them for the rise of the hate for dubs be some fans as well as the massive fansubs and illegal streaming when they were licensing and destroying anime series during the early 2000's.

If Viz wants to make a news that will definitely have people talking , one thing will be to finally rescue most of the Shouen Jump anime that 4kids destroyed like Shaman King and others.

However If they do i really hope they dont pull a dumb move like that they did with naruto shippuden .
