Whilst perhaps less succinct than that of previous films, the title of this most recent project certainly befits the mood of Shinkai's filmmaking. I shall be keen to read of more updates.

Makoto Shinkai...

That's all I needed to read to make me interested. The English title could use some work, though, since it doesn't exactly roll of the tongue. I hope Crunchyroll can work something out to play this on Shinkai Day, or that a BD version somewhere has subtitles. Either works for me.

Simultaneous BD Release with English Subs?? That's what ADV and Japan said, right? Right?

Yes. Yes they did. They're totally down with giving us what we want!

I foresee having to wait 2-3 years for an English release of this at all, and it'll be bare bones. I don't know how well 5cm/sec sold, but it was OoP within 6mos-1Yr. Good for all of us who bought the damn thing. If I ever wanted to get rid of it (Which is never) I could get a pretty penny for it. ($165 New, $73 Used on Amazon)

2-3 is stretching it. if anything CR will probably sell the dvd like they're doing with 5cm. My hope is that sentai picks it up (since they're technically ADV and that dub was far better IMO)

cant wait. shinkai is awesome

YES! I love Shinkai. I'm so excited for this.

But I don't know if it'll be out that soon over here since Crunchyroll has pushed 5cm back to a TBA date. If it's having problems distributing it, when the actual dub has already been made for months now at least, then I feel like it's plans to put out DVDs may not be as easy as they made it sound.

I can't wait for this! I always love Makoto Shinkai's brand of brooding drama.

I'll certainly watch it, but I just hope it doesn't have pretty well fatal flaws like everything he's made since Voice of a Distant Star.

Can't wait for this one! Just like I can't wait for Crunchyroll/Bandai store to actually release 5 Centimeters Per Second. It was supposed to be available by Oct. 8th.

Why would you use the Bandai store when TRSI will have it as well?

Because at the time I ordered it, it seemed like the Bandai Store would have an exclusive on it. Believe me, my preference is to always order from TRSI when that's an option.

I also ordered 5cm from Bandai because as of right now they are the only ones with it and since I have been waiting to get ahold of this film forever, I would rather have it sooner than later.

As for this movie. I have fallen in love with every single work of Makoto Shinkai. I am eagerly awaiting this one with high expectations. I cant even wait for the teaser!

Awesome, I was wondering when we'd hear about Shinkai's next movie. I hope it's more Voices of Distant Star and not The Place Promsied in Our Early Days in terms of quality.

The only problem I have with The Place Promised in Our Early Days is that the movie is way to long; Shinkai movies I think doesn't really fit as a long format. I hope this new movie of his is either a short movie like Voices of Distant Star or spit into parts like 5cm.

I agree with DarkRoseFairy on this one. Shinkai's film making is best suited to a short format.

Also, does this plot seem familiar to anyone? It feels kind of Voices of a Distant Star rehashed (at least I hope there's not mechs in this one, or if there are, that the CG doesn't distract me with it's crappiness)

That being said 5cm/sec was splendid in all senses of the word. I was thoroughly depressed and yet strangely uplifted by it.
