Oh, I didn't remember that this had been licensed. I'm looking forward to it...

Well that's a surprise for me. I would've like Megan Fox (well since she does admit liking anime) to voice her since I did came up with a fantasy cast for the English cast for The Borrower anime. I would like to see Michael Cera, and Ryan Reynolds to make the cast if possible. That would be a very interesting voice cast for me.

Either way, it shows that a dub is being made and that we'll surely get this here in America. Of course, when is the big question here.

Does anyone know what the general critical opinion on this was in Japan land? Hanen't heard fiddle diddle about it apart from the fact it's about a borrower (which worries me as I hate the effing borrowers big time.)

That was a pretty fast turn-around on the dub.

If that full day of recording was for actual lines in the movie, then maybe it isn't that far off.

Haha, I actually find Good Luck Charlie somewhat amusing to watch, so I'm a bit familiar with Bridgit Mendler. Can't wait to hear how she does.

I'm not to crazy about this actress being in the film..I feel like the English dubs of Studio Ghibli films have been rather bland of late..there is always some tie in with a Disney star to be in it..I really like the Spirited Away & Howl's Moving Castle English dubs but they didn't have any well known Disney child stars in them..I Am looking forward to seeing this film..hopefully Disney will release this on Blu-ray very soon in the near future.

Generally very positive reviews. I'd say it was definitely one of the better received movies of the year over here, actually. Either way I loved it-- saw it three times, each with different groups of people, and everyone fell in the love with film.

Here's how the conversation went when I told a friend about it:

Me: Hey, they just started dubbing Arrietty, y'know the latest Ghibli film. They're having one of the Disney girls as the main character.

Friend: Really now.

Me: Yeah. If ya wanna know, that girl who's a vampire in, uh, Wizards of Waverly Place.

Friend: Bridgit Mendler?

Me: Wai- wha? How'd you know her name? Even I know her only by face.

Friend: She's in the commercial all the time. For that other show... Good Luck Charlie, I think.

Me: Oh yeah, she's in that too.

Sometimes, people surprise me. Laughing

I really don't care about who is cast to play what, just as long as we get this film in English and if we get a solid cast, which all the Ghibli dubs have been very fortunate to receive. I have yet to hate any of them (haven't seen Earthsea or this one yet, obviously).
