I went to the Evangelion 2.22 screening in MTL earlier this year and the theater was packed. In fact, I'm pretty sure it sold out. Definitely going to see Badlands Rumble.

Woop woop! So totally booking that day off and using my employee pass! Trigun, plus I get to watch it for free? AMAZING.

Why Canada first? I guess it had to happen some time Rolling Eyes

I suppose there is sound business sense behind this, for all its flaws Funimation is not captained by DJ Milky.

Though I'm in no hurry to see Trigun. I like the idea of these movies debuting at "real" theatres, but I don't like paying for movies of franchises that I didn't like. I also saw Trigun subbed, so the dub (even though most all actors are different) doesn't appeal to me.

Should be Richmond, not Richland.

YOU ROCK FUNIMATION.
Just so you know.
Very excited about all these screenings.

edit-- why Canada first? Well, I know that the Eva showings were pretty successful events for many theatres, and some of these theatres are part of a chain, so it's easy to set up region-wide showings I imagine.

Also, we're awesome!

Most excellent. Already gone and gotten my ticket. It's about time Canada gets some recognition here.

Does anyone see a problem with this article? If it's supposed to be "subbed AND dubbed" then how can it be one night only? Unless they plan on playing the dub around prime time, and the sub afterward. That's my only guess.

Some theaters will be showing it dubbed wile others will show it subtitled.

Funimation has confirmed with ANN that some theaters will show an English-dubbed version of the film, while others will show the film with the original Japanese track.

Oh, ok. Well maybe Canada gets the one-night only treatment, while the U.S. gets subs one night and dubbed the next (and vice versa) in theaters, like Viz and Fathom did with Bleach: Memories of Nobody? Not likely, but there's always hope...

I was going to point that out too. Was looking for Richmond on the list, as the Eva movies have been playing at Riverport. Saw "Richland" and thought where the heck was that? Then I saw Riverport under theatres and concluded there was a typo for the city.

I don't know much about Trigun, but will probably still check it out.

My local theatre in Mississauga's showing it - where they also showed the Eva movies - so I am going to make sure that day's free. I should be going with a few friends, too.

I wonder what language it'll be in for my theatre. 1.0 was in English, while 2.0 was in Japanese.
