Before I actually clicked on the article I thought it was going to be about a private equity firm killing group bids on Borders. Like "Back off!" and "None for you, fatty!" kindsa deals.

So with "more than half" does that mean Gores Group could acquire ownership of the Borders name as well? There's several outcomes to this purchase in that Borders could still exist in those properties acquired (just under new ownership) or they could re-brand into a new bookstore chain. Or the locations could be used for an entirely different retail line like clothes, food, general merchandise or whatever. What specialty the company is planning to use for the old Borders is anyones guess.

Well, if you look at Gores' portfolio, the closest thing they have in relation to Borders.....is a DVD distribution company.
