I also thought the second season relied too much on cheap jokes and fanservice more than the plot-line, but maybe the next season will be better,

at least there is a possibility that a fourth season might happen, since this new one will cover up to the beginning of the final arc, so I will watch to see how it turns out, hope the same voice actors are in it

I take it that Haruka is no longer the shy and innocent ojou-sama from the first season, judging from what she is wearing on the cover?

Or is that supposed to be some more cosplay like how she cosplayed Shana and then later Dokuro-chan in the first season?

So she's finally gonna wear glasses after all?
I still need to finish the second season, but it's so hard to keep watching.
It's not THAT bad, but it has a too elevated high fructose syrup content to finish in one go and there's so much else to do and watch.

I admit - I'm excited. Mr. Green I didn't like the second season that much either, for all the reasons mentioned plus the addition of that pointless "Alice" character. I hope the third series will have more of a focus on the story. That's what made the first series so great - it was touching, funny and surprisingly parallel to real life in many ways.

Seems like we have a consensus going here: second season wasn't very good. I'm an optimist by nature, so maybe the third will be better, right?

Damn my weak spot for puppy-love romance, I'm looking forward to this.

I was okay with the fanservice in the second season but the small amount of lovey-dovey scenes was indeed a crime. I hope they add more of those.

Diomedea (assuming they are still the production studio) did an okay job on Lotte no Omocha and Ika-Musume so it's not like they are functionally incapable of delivering the goods.

I think the insinuation of the article and timing is that they're announcing the new anime now because the end of the novels is coming soon, and they'll time this final season of the anime to coincide with the end of the novels. This is something that ASCII Media Works has done a number of times before as well, and makes sense from a PR perspective. The anime studio would be given the final volume's script outline now and include that in the anime, and they'd just release both at around the same time. (ASCII did this with Toradora, and is also doing it with Shana III this fall.)

I think the issue is mostly that this was the middle part of the story and they didn't want to "commit" to too much romantic development (since the novels were still being written). So the whole season seemed more or less wasted on the fanservice and distractions, and doesn't have the focus or heart that the first season has. Call me optimistic, but I think this being the final season lends itself well to largely avoiding this sort of problem and going back to the main plot points of the series that started in the first season, since they know they have to wrap up the loose ends in a limited amount of time.

Because she's smokin' hot? Razz

Seriously though it's good to see this getting more anime. I like the franchise and it's characters a lot.

Heheh, this is like otaku wish-fulfillment fantasy. No way such a scenario happens in real life. Laughing

Those are cigarette burn marks. She's in an abusive relationship, but she just can't make herself leave him. Cue Rihanna/Eminem. Laughing

I loved Haruka. She was one of my fav characters for awhile. Hearing that there is a season 3 incoming makes my day. As long as they stay clear of the fanservice that made S2 utter crap....That will be great.
