I thought Wizards of the Coast (nee Magic: the Gathering) stopped supporting it. It's a WotC game.

Maybe in the US, but it's still going on strong in Japan. The anime is currently airing it's 7th series (Duel Masters Victory) with appropriate card sets.

So WotC is still supporting it in Japan? Heh, WotC trying to get a piece of the Japan card craze..........

I'm not really big on it's history, but Takara Tomy handles the cards in Japan (they're also behind the Beyblade franchise). Whether that's how it always was in Japan or they only took over after WoTC bailed out I'm not sure.
