This is either going to be something that revolutionizes the Magical Girl genre or just another excuse to have girls in cute outfits getting rapped in crazy, insane ways. Still I am pretty interested.

Time to send in the clones!

Jk

Since apparently it'll be technomagic I suppose it'd be more apt to liken it to Nanoha rather than Madoka.

In any case since such a prestigious author is at the helm, I'm sure it'll be a quality work.

Kazuo Koike + Magical Girls= ...

A top-notch team of scientists may need to work this equation out...

But I'm a big fan of "Crying Freeman" and "Lady Snowblood", and while I am a bit apprehensive of Koike's use of women in his works (i.e. SO MUCH FREAKING RAPE), there's no denying that he's a very talented author and creator. I'm cautiously anticipating what this newest endeavor will result in. Here's hoping for the best! Smile

All the sex that we've seen on Koike's previous works are about him being in a boys-only club back in the days. People stop doing that once they get older and settle down. It would be fascinating if we could see realistic magical girl without goofy outfits.

Quote:
He also addressed the real-life issue of the number of females enrolling in engineering schools leveling off or dropping, and noted that the person who will be drawing his story is a female engineering school student.

There is underlying cause for that. It's the lack of encouragement in imagination and creativity in the field which is turning off female engineer students. It's not all about how much science and math you know, but how to apply them with creative ideas through trial and error. Imagination motivates engineers and researchers to come up with prototypes and theories which move science and technology to the next level.

Looking at the recent advance in science and technology, the real magic is where imagination that brings technology to the next level through trial and error. It's kinda sad when science and art has wide gap between them.

An ultraviolent, adult-oriented, deconstuctive magic girl "gekiga"?

Thanks, but now thanks. No offense to anyone in this forum (and I'm sorry if I sound indignant or even self-righteous), but I actually prefer the family-oriented material. Just saying. Of course, if this new project of his were to actually be family friendly (at least by Japanese standards, of course), and even straightforward (as opposed to the deconstruction that was the aforementioned Madoka Magica), then of course, I'd be willing to check it out when/if it were ever to get licensed.

Part of me feels really excite to see what kind of "Over the Top, Jumping the Shark with a rocket propelled vehicle." insanity that he will be creating, and another part of me is terrifically horrified for the same reason, but I will read it just the same because I am a die hard fan of the "Kaz"! Somewhere in my sick and twisted mind, I hope to see a live action version of it directed by ( insert your favourite director here)!

Magical engineers?
Engineers competing with magical girls?

Disregarding that, I sort of want to know what part of Madoka caught Koike's interest.

maybe she'll cry each time she transforms? or it'll be the first Magical Girl show to have the main character sportin' a Dragon or some kinda wild Tiger tatoo? or better yet, she'll travel the countryside pushing a cart with cool weapons as part of it? okay, I'm done Surprised

whatever else he comes up with, I hope it gets a US release.
and at 75 years? that's amazing.

I am curios what the art style will look like. Will it be more or a "moe" look or more semi-realistic. Since most of the artists that have done the art work have had a less "cartoony" style. Would be interesting if it was done in the Crying Freeman art style.
