$369.98 and no dub... good luck with that, Aniplex. I hope this will get a proper American release with a dub and realistic pricing.

Is anyone going to fork out for this?

There is no reason this should cost more than $100 and even that would be pretty staggering.

Don't underestimate it. The Kara no Kyoukai set sold out.

But yeah, the question is still "Do I love it that much?" I'm still not sure.

But hey, I did buy all of Super Robot Wars, but that was $500 for 26 episodes.

Considering it's an import, you'll be paying import prices. Wait 2-3 years and we may see an actual NA release at a much cheaper price.

This import is only for the hardcore collectors.

You know, if you're going to comment, it helps if you have at least the most basic knowledge of recent history.

If this was more around the $250 - 300 range, I'd be seriously considering it. Although, I probably still wouldn't because I would need to get two boxes since this is only the first of two sets. That's the killer if you ask me - there's still another $400 box set coming down the pipeline for the second half.

Why couldn't you just release singles, Aniplex? Maybe they'll pull a Geneon and release the box set first and then singles later. Hopefully, I should say.

The boxset is available for pre-order on Right Stuf. The box retails for US$498.98 and Right Stuf is currently offering it for US$369.98.

That's only for the the US customers while it's $379.98 for everyone else.

Theres plenty of reason... reverse importing. Why buy it in Japan if you can get it for dirt cheap by importing the Western version?

That price includes insured shipping.

Soooooo I'm an idiot and just pre-ordered it. I guess the answer to my question was "yes."

Well I have until March to cancel it.

Selling out doesn't really mean much, it could have sold out with like 20 copies, plus since it's basically an import (with a piece of crappy paper providing the translations of the artbook no less and not even an english version of the artbook for it's crazy price) it shouldn't be sold out anyway if every other company can keep their shows in stock for new fans to buy, the idea that it is is pretty ridiculous too that no one can ever see those movies again. These releases also do absolutely nothing for pushing anime in the US to keep up it's popularity with good shows that could be priced at even expensive but semi-reasonable prices so that US fans keep buying more shows and the US fanbase continues to grow. If they put out a "singles/double/etc." version with a dub and more reasonable pricing in addition to this psuedo import or didn't cockblock the real R1 companies like Funi, Sentai, Viz, Bandai etc. from doing so a few months/year after this which those companies would likely make a decent amount of money on too with all of us who'd love to buy these with a dual language and at least slightly more reasonable pricing by releasing a crappy import that import fans could have imported from the import anime shops (like I've done once or twice or particularly with some games) I wouldn't have an issue but this is just gouging and blocking a release for yet another show that could "make it relatively big in the US" due to it's quality by getting an absurd release that only the really dedicated or obsessed Fate fans will be able to afford because they already know it'll be one of their favorite shows ever etc.

Agreed it's ridiculous, almost $400 in one pop with no dub, I don't love this show that much.

Madoka's expensive but at least it's not all in one pop and it's got a fuller set of US friendly features. I wish Blue Exorcist or this at least got that and both of those would probably sell more in the US than Madoka given these two types of action shows tend to be quite popular in the US.

If it was the price of Madoka, I'd probably buy it, but I'm gonna have to decide if I'm hardcore enough to fork out that kind of money. Mainly, I wanna wait until after the holidays when I'm done hemorrhaging money and see how I feel financially then.

Pfft, no, it couldn't, because we know for a fact that 20 copies isn't all they had. Rolling Eyes It had far more than 20 copies. The counter to warn everybody that quantities were running low(after having already been up for purchase for a while) didn't even start until they were at 50 copies and that was reduced to 0 a few days after that. Not to mention it sold over 25,000 in its first week over in Japan. Whether or not the US sales were factored into that much are unknown, though.

Fact of the matter is that there are far more people willing to shell out that much for stuff like than than you seem to think. And the fact that Kara no Kyoukai sold out over here before its release is indeed impressive.

I certainly won't be buying this. I'm not so sure this is going to be as successful as Aniplex's KnK offering last year simply because as has been pointed out, people will have to shell out $370 (if in the US) twice as opposed to $450 once. Let's see how many are willing to fork over $740 for a single, 26-eppie show.

I have to say that I am more than a little tempted to buy this, but considering this is quickly shaping up to be one of the top anime shows of the season (dare I say year?). I think it is safe to say they will have a more reasonable price release coming out in NA sometime in the next year or so (hopefully with a dub).

If this was the complete season I would total save up and pay that price, but for just the first part….. I am a poor college student so I think I’ll wait.
