They need to revise their tagline:

"In a future where idols are outlawed, only outlaws will have idols."

They should change the character designs to something more Bubblegum Crisis in style. Wink Laughing

Huh. I was just going to watch this because AKB48, but the story has me sufficiently interested. Plus the staff is surprisingly solid.

This has now moved from a mere curiosity to a much watch.

In an area where entertainment is non-existent, there is an idol group that offers underground guerilla concerts to inspire its listeners. The name of that female group is Girls Dead Monster.

Heh heh.

Oh sweet mercy, a future with nothing but AKB48 music to listen to?!?!? George Orwell had nothing on this scenario!!

Also, weren't these the gals who did the godawful voice acting in ICE? I hope they aren't playing themselves, though I suspect they are. Even if I liked their bubblegum pop music (which I don't, at all) I would be dreading it for that reason alone. They're not good voice actors.

Are people really taking this seriously? Laughing

Reminds me of pop groups who take advantage of other mediums, like New Kids on the Block and Courtney Love.

BTW, here's another look of them: Laughing

You mean projects like these?

Also, I see at the bottom they at least held voice auditions of some kind. Here's hoping they can actually act. I mean, done properly this could be silly fun, but glamor projects have a poor track record.

@that photo:
Let us never forget the "AKB" comes from "Akihabara," and while they may be super popular with the children I teach English to, they had their start being being popular with men much older than that...

every girl group target men when they start out. Rolling Eyes

@that photo..really?
it's AKB doing their group huddle before they go on stage. The focus isn't anything sexual. beside that documentary look intense.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKkhGW1LQrA

they're even showing the girls scene where they go to disaster area and help out the tsunami victims.

the whole storyline with helping out people with music is remind me of the dareka no tame ni thing AKB doing right now with tsunami relief by donating 39 million USD, visiting disaster areas 8 times for free concert and going to fukushima and visit children for christmas and dedicate Kaze wa fuiteiru sing to tsunami victims. :O
