Well, that's interesting.

Here's hoping for a Blu-Ray set too...

There won't be. I don't think there has ever been an Anime Legends BD set.

If they do turn around and release a BD version this Legends release, I'm going to have Very Unkind Words for BEI. Very unkind. :/

To be fair, I don't think they really had enough to bother making an Anime Legends BD; the only other shows they released were "Kurokami" and "Star Driver," and the first volume of the former isn't even quite 2 years old.

Man, whatever happened to the Zegapain Anime Legends set?

Anyways, I wonder if rightstuf will have something like the CPM liquidation event when licenses start expiring.

Star Driver BDs were an easy buy. I'm on the fence about picking up the K-On BDs, though I may end up getting them sooner than later. I'm still very reluctant about the Kurokami BD singles, partially due to their crippled nature.

I take it the reason why the Anime Legends isn't collected onto Blu-ray is because Japan is scared of reverse importers? So it seems like the only place that's going to get a K-ON! BD boxset is England...and that's if MangaUK don't cancel it like so many other blu-rays.

Rather than this being a sign that Bandai are still living; I'd say this release was planned quite a while ago and this will be one of their last releases (After all, didn't they say February was when they'd be closing up shop?).

This is just one more reason why I don't like bandai. If this were Funimation or Sentai Filmworks, there would've been a blu-ray complete collection from the beginning instead of those outdated volume releases. As much I love to support the anime industry, if this doesn't get a complete blu-ray collection boxset, there goes another opportunity to have my money. :/

I wish Bandai would just go away and leave their anime to better US distributors such as Funimation and Sentai Filmworks, who are getting my money. I also like Nozomi/RightStuf but I wish they'd get on the BD wagon too.

Manga UK have just announced that the K-On BD boxset is cancelled: http://www.uk-anime.net/newsitem/K-ON!_UK_box_set_release_confirmed_as_DVD_only.html

We never even got BD singles.

MangaUK were being really indecisive about that...on Facebook yesterday they said it was unlikely, on Twitter they were saying it's out in April. "Great" to see that it's finally cancelled >>

Yeah, the UK BD market is crap for anime. MangaUK apparently wouldn't have sold enough blu-rays with single releases - hell; our Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood was cancelled after 2 volumes >>

Might as well get a multi-region player now...

I'm not really surprised that the BD market isn't great over here; the only people I know who buy BD's are PS3 owners, and being a PS3 owner doesn't necessarily mean you're a person who will buy anime on BD, so... :/

I think this Fandom Post article from 8:14AM this morning does a good job summarizing the pros and cons of the Anime Legends release. Personally, I'm glad Bandai is doing this release, because I wasn't going to buy the singles.
