A decent list, though the true king of luck is none other than Chirico Cuvie from Armored Trooper VOTOMS. His luck practically makes him immortal. Put a gun to his head and pull the trigger, it will jam. Manage to shoot him, it will miss all his vital organs. Hell, Chirico even survived a nuclear explosion somehow without any lasting wounds.

Abnormal survivor, Overman, whatever you want to call him, Chirico's luck allows him to take on God Himself.

I know you want to exclude harems, but Ikuto from Nagasarte Airantou gets shipwrecked and then floats to an island of beautiful women who are a little concerned about their population shrinking, if you catch my drift. He goes from nearly dying in the ocean to an island of amazons. I'd say that's pretty lucky and a little different from having a gaggle school girls mysteriously fall in love with you.

I don't get why everyone loves Bodacious. I mean, it might be true that the execution was fine, but the artwork and character design looks SOOO old that it feels like it was made back in 2000.....Also the plot is not interesting at all....at least for me because I dropped in the middle of episode 3 since nothing significant happened up till then. I honestly just get the feeling that ANN's reviewers just hyped up some of the anime fans to get such a poll result.

No one should ever be ahead of Tylor on a list of the luckiest, espeically someone like Luffy. Seriously, trying to attribute his success to simple luck is ridiculous.

How could you vote for anybody but Lain in the polls? I mean, spoiler[she IS the queen of the whole internet, and as we see near the end of the series, she can essentially control the whole world and everybody in it.]

I'd say it's a matter of expectations: everybody was expecting a smorgasbord of echi and got some great writing. As for the pacing, it's a very strong case of varying mileage - I love the flow. Kind of refreshing that it's taking its time instead of dumping the protagonist in a situation and having them take to it like a fish to water.

Just looked over the new poll for anime computer hackers, my favorite choice is Nene Romanova of Bubblegum Crisis who isn't on the list, I can't believe she was forgotten.

I think Ein ought to be on the list of hackers. Even Ed was impressed with his skills. He just needs the right interface to accommodate his lack of hands. :)

As for luck, I think I'd replace Saki Miyanaga with Elle from Rave Master.

Janet Bhai and Chachamaru don't make sense to me.

Greenback Jane is really only more concerned with producing counterfeits and organizes information. She knows a bit about encryption but in the series itself Benny has no problem working around it....so why is she there? Another character has already proved superiority. Knowledge and actual execution are completely different things.

Same with Chachamaru. So.... just because she's an AI suddenly means that she's a master hacker? The only time I remember Chachamaru using a computer was spoiler[ when she was hooked up to an air ship and that was only because her body was destroyed if I remember correctly...]

Kenji Koiso is good at math, therefore he must be a hacker.... because Wabisuke wasn't the actual programmer of the AI or modified OZ code to rewrite character data on a remote server.

So many good hackers on this week's list, had to go with Denno Coil but if the option for Cowboy Bebop had been Ed+Ein then that would've been my choice for sure.

There is no SUPER HACKER Daru in the newest poll so I will abstain from voting Razz

Definitely agree here. When I first read about it I thought "yeah ... will probably drop this one pretty quickly". Then I watched the first episode and completely changed my mind.

I'm loving the pacing and character development, but what really makes it for me is the attempt at realistic technology and physics. The Odette II's ship design (for those who haven't watched yet, the yacht club's (high school club for space enthusiasts) "practice" ship) is classic - basically a central tube that you float along in zero-g, with bulkheads leading into the various sections of the ship and the bridge at the nose. OK - so the weapons are a little overpowered, but this is future tech ...

By stopping halfway through ep. 3 you missed out on something that I actually wished they'd done slower - the spacewalk. spoiler[For a bunch of first-timers they moved remarkably well - I would have liked them to have been a bit more hesitant outside.] spoiler[Yes ... the cyberwarfare was a little anticlimactic, but I think it was just there to give us an idea of the capabilities of the Odette II.]

This is actually a large part of the appeal. I'm an older anime viewer who grew up on Robotech and Star Blazers and seen the evolution of anime since. Whilst I appreciate the current very clean and sharp character designs, it's nice to have some different artwork occasionally.

Huh, I don't think Saki was the best choice from the same-titled anime. If you'll recall there was a girl from Tsuruga at prefecture tournament who was an absolute novice for mahjong. And yet she just had so much 'beginner's luck' that she ended up winning the round against much stronger players like Mako. Saki may get lucky with her rinshan kaihou wins, but she is extremely well-versed in the game, even able to end up +/- 0 at the end of practically every match. Whereas Kaori Sennou had no other reason to win other than sheer power of luck.

Also, Tylor is the luckiest fictional character in existence. I mean, he had Jason on board the Soyokaze and didn't even get hacked to death by a chainsaw. That's proof enough.

I think when it comes to hacking, The Laughing Man wins hands down. He never breaks a sweat even when he's going against the formidable Section 9 and pretty much remains an unsolved mystery until the end.

He's the most fleshed out character and also the most influential hacker in the cyberverse.

And I do believe that he unintentionally popularized the Laughing Man logo in the GITS universe and the real world.
