One of the best manga series. it's almost impossible to put the book down.

It's really good, but I probably never would have started buying the manga if Viz had released the anime. And I do think I prefer the anime, it's a very through retelling, it doesn't seem to skip a single thing and though it adds some original anime content- it's good stuff. Getting through this volume and knowing Aoba wasn't going to spend any time trying out for the national team was a little disappointing.
Okay, the manga does have those humorous bits with the characters and Adachi breaking the fourth wall to talk about missing deadlines and other similar subjects, but that's really a small extra. I say, if you just read this series, you'll enjoy it, but so far it's also proven that you don't really miss anything if you only see the anime adaptation. I have to say I never considered Kou/Akane as a couple. It was all about Kou and someone else for me.
I won't say in case of spoilers, but if you're reading I think it's obvious by this point. Anyways I am thrilled to own Cross Game in some capacity. And though we aren't getting all the covers, I like how we are getting the release quicker with double chapters per volume. |
