Since I think this may be a typo, is that 3/9-3/10 date supposed to be Minneapolis, Minnesota or Missouri as its currently stated? I assume MN since there is a Landmark Lagoon theater over there but good to know for people from the suburbs.

That being said, I'm rather looking forward to this. I haven't seen the movie since an old bootleg version way back in 03, and having read the (superb) book since then I want to rewatch the movie to see how things compare.

Glad to see it's getting its theatrical release before Hunger Games after all.

The thing is Anchor Bay was originally gonna send Battle Royale straight to video. But apparently, the L.A. screening went better than expected, considering BR's been imported and/or pirated ad nauseum. So, either it escaped the awareness of the High School Musical/Glee crowd, and there are still a lot of people who haven't seen it, or people are seriously sick of that vampire shit and just wanna see some shoot-outs again. I also find Manga UK's comments to be quite amusing.

No. We just want the older fans of Hunger Games to know there's more where that came from.
That would be kind of cool if more people saw BR in theaters than Hunger Games, but different demos, so probably not gonna happen.

So which version of the film are we getting in theaters? 2D? 3D? Theatrical cut or director's cut?

Definitely not 3D, 'cus that would cost extra. And if they're really lazy, they'll probably just spring for a digital copy of the director's cut, which isn't as good as the regular cut.

Aww man, I was hopping the Brattle release would be closer around to the hunger games release so we could have a super all out teen murder marathon with my friends. They'll be less interested in seeing Battle Royale now. Sad

BOTH of which are midnight showings. *shudder* Glad I caught the heavily discounted price when Amazon first listed the complete collection.

Or it's the brilliant swan song of a master filmmaker?

Saw the free Madison, WI showing at UW, they had the director's cut blu-ray. It looked very nice, can't wait to get my copy to replace the bootleg set that we have. I was surprised at how many people were there who seemed to not have seen it before.

What a sad day when the imitation gets more exposure and respect than the original.

If I understand you correctly, then you mean to imply that "Battle Royale" is a rip-off of "The Hunger Games". Is my understanding correct?
