A darker ending? Makes me wonder if they going to try a pull a Cowboy Bebop ending or something similar to that.

Hard to say how this movie will turn out, but I am just hoping this isn't another anime adaptation disaster.

Darker?
Bring it! I dare them to give me a School Days(bad) end.

Now that is a challenge to be had. Would certainly be hard to top to say the least, as if I remember right, the bad ending to School Days was exceptionally dark.

But at the same time it seemed plausible and fitting.

Hopefully by a "darker" ending they mean the actual ending from the original manga. The closer it is to the original manga. The happier I will be.

We don't need another "reinterpretation" of Oldboy.
The Korean Film adaptation already did that and it's stupid
to try it again since 1. the fans of that film don't want another
Oldboy and 2. the fans of the manga like myself want a more
faithful adaptation of the original manga.

Am I expecting a more faithful adaptation? Not really
but I can always wish.

Also why not try casting some Japanese Americans
as the original manga the characters are all Japanese.
Or hell just Japanese who know English.

Or for that matter just about any one of East Asian descent.

Because it's an American film made by Americans for Americans? I haven't kept up on what Spike Lee's script is going to be, but I'm guessing he's going to localize the locale so it doesn't take place in Korea so there would be no need to cast Asians. I know people always like to go the route of "omg they're white washing again!" and sometimes it's pertinent other times it's not, this just might be one of those times that it isn't. And as much as people don't like to admit it, for the general public at least, casting an all Asian cast can be a little alienating to your mostly white/caucasian target audience. It's the painful truth.

In other news, am I the only one who finds it a bit amusing how Elizabeth Olsen makes it a point to be a serious actress in the wake of her older sisters' kiddy friendly tween "acting" past? Kudos, to her for not riding on those less than thrilling coat tails Wink

the original manga does contain that episode about the culprit being some real estate profiteer that benefited during real estate boom and what not.. hope spike lee didn't pick this up because he was interested in turning this into those cliche market bashing, simpleton themes repeated a thousand times for teenagers

spoiler[Not realizing that would actually occur in the series. Also, not having any indication of this about to happen either. Usagi Drop is a prime example of this.]
