Seriously what is with Answerman's elitist pathological hatred of Naruto and One Piece?

Ok Naruto has arguably out stayed it's welcome but it's clearly in it's final stages and unlikely to do a Bleach and restart with some awful fullbring type arc. No need for it to be culled, it will end of it's own accord naturally in the next year or two.

One Piece on the other has very few filler and is no where near finished and in absolute NO NEED of culling! To even compare One Piece to Bleach or Naruto in this regard is an insult to One Piece.

Stop with the Naruto and One Piece bashing already. It's not hip and it's not cool.

ahhhh, Tonsilitis. Fun. Nice excuse for Ice Cream.

and while mono has it's funny aspects as the "kissing disease" it's a pet peeve of mine to hear it too devalued, for personal reasons. Had it when I was 18, didn't rest enough, the weakened immune system led to me contracting viral meningitis and very nearly dying. And just last year the Baseball player Brandon Inge (go Tigers!) got mono at the age of 33, and it can be argued that it left him in such a weakened state that it ruined half of his season, even after "recovering."

and the list of list of anime series that have been resurrected thanks exclusively to Western support are rare. In fact, I can only think of two - The Big O II, and the Escaflowne Movie

I can name two other examples of this:
Ultimate Muscle: The Kinnikuman Legacy
Apparently the original Kinnikuman Nisei anime series was canceled in Japan after a really bad filler arc, but 4Kids' UM adaptation was so popular that they commissioned Toei to make two small 13-episode seasons to finish up the story arc the original anime started before being canceled. The first new season was infamous for removing the "Niku" kanji from Meat's forehead due to 4Kids' demands. Both "Made-for-America" seasons were later aired as late-night animes in Japan.

Voltron (Lion Force)
This could be pushing it, as Toei didn't exactly make new GoLion episodes, but rather they made Voltron-exclusive episodes that were never adapted into GoLion episodes.

But you just bashed Naruto and Bleach, so why should he stop when you clearly have no desire to?

I've never understood that method- in case of bacterial tonsillitis leaving sugar traces down the throat is a nice gift to the invaders. Cool water with salt works better. And never try to remove pus in any way, or you'll end in cardiology surgery waiting for new valves. To be frank tonsillitis is quite common among adults too, especially teachers.

People tend to devalue every disease that is not the current trend in media. I had been taught to never underestimate anything before I realised my existence- mild cough that stupid doctor diagnosed as a common cold turned to be pneumonia. I was discussed as the first case of pneumonia crisis in our hospital since 50s and for long weeks they couldn't guess if I manage to recover. Confused

Back to the topic: I guess Answerman got so many mails about said shows that it would turn the mist faithful worshipper into full time hater.

Using the word 'bash' makes you sound like a partisan fanboy.

I notice nobody calling out Sazae-san or Crayon Shin-chan for being too long.

That said, I think the Big 3 lost their way years ago. And I'm a DB/Z fan.

Mainly because the former is quite unknown to Western fans and former is presumed dead Razz
Seriously- that's different format and target that passes from parents to children providing a kind of stability in that world, thus will last forever.

I see what you did there!

While I agree with you somewhat on the pathology of Brian's reaction, and how it seems to give Sazae-san, Chibi M,, and Doraemon a pass, I simply cannot allow your One Piece bias to filter through.

I don't have anything bad to say about One Piece, so your assertions about it may or may not be valid. Guess who's replacing Bleach? Ah, a Naruto spinoff, one that has been very popular, manga-wise. How it works out in animation remains to be seen, but suffice it to say that Naruto must be still be reasonably popular to have spawned a spin-off. Never mind that the original Naruto is being re-aired as well. Saying that everything is done with the Naruto story is just plain ignorant. Sure, there have been some excellent reveals and many loose ends have been tied up in the manga. However, that doesn't mean the story is done because you think there is nothing more that can happen. It depends on how the creator chooses to continue, if he does, and not based on how you think it has outstayed its welcome. Personally, I think it has just as much future story potential as One Piece.

About endings: I've seen plenty of anime with endings that made me either go "WTF man! Why?!" or "Seriously? You're ending it like that?!". But normally, even in those horrible endings, you can see what they were trying to do, and maybe even appreciate it. Like, I don't really like it, but I guess it makes sense, and it's not a completer ass pull. So no, in that case I could not cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war.

But there is a situation in where you not only have the right (assuming you're a paying customer) but you SHOULD band together and share the torches and pitchforks: When the authors simply didn't give a crap. I'm talking about when he/she just pissed over the ending, and the fans, just because. Mass Effect 3 is actually a perfect example. In an interview, the guy said that he wanted to get people talking about it, and to remember it. He didn't care if it was good, and most likely, did it on purpose for some bullshit artistic reason, or just to become infamous. It's time like these where we should demand our rights.

The usual response to this would be "Well just vote with your wallet". It's too late for that, you've already bought it. You couldn't have known the ending would be shit on a cracker.

Shounen Jump anime are going just fine. It's just that we've hit a changing of the guard. Bleach and Gintama are out, Toriko and HUNTER×HUNTER(2011) are in.

...is not Shonen Jump. TV ratings (which really don't mean much) are better for Toriko and HxH too, though it's definitely because of their timeslots.

Fairy Tail, you mean, and its just about to overtake the manga. I guess we'll see.
