So does Kondo just have nothing he wants ufotable to do a sequel of? Because almost everything they've done I want to see a sequel of.

I'd love a Kannagi sequel, but thats just a pipe dream. After the whole "she might not be a virgin" fiasco, I doubt the otaku would support it.

Maybe they can turn her back into tree and then resurrect her as a virgin?

Virgin or not, I would really love to see the sequel of Kannagi.

I believe all that "virgin fiasco" was just Sankaku complex blowing things out of proportion in order to bash, insult and slander Japanese Otaku, as always. After all, last week the seventh volume of Kannagi was released in Japan, more than two years since last volume, and it became one of the top selling mangas, selling more than 43 thousand copies in one week.
If such "controversy" ever existed, the only ones who seem to remember it are Sankaku complex readers, since the Japanese Otaku seem to have forgotten about it long ago.

We're talking about the anime though. Manga and anime are aimed at different markets: Manga are cheap so their normal buyers are more casual fans, but the otaku are the ones who buy the anime due to the very high prices. The hardcore otaku are the ones who were upset over the impure issue, not the more casual fans.

Plus, 43k sounds pretty low to me for a series that used to be one of the more popular otaku manga. I can't find any sales for the older volumes, but 100k is probably closer to their original numbers.

I wouldn't mind seeing a Sword Of The Stranger 2 being produced.

As was said, you really can't take the word of a few crazy people on 2ch (a BBS known for theatrics) and promoted by Sankaku Complex (a blog that largely exists to promote those theatrics) as if it's in any way representative of what "hardcore otaku" really feel. It was just a stunt to gain attention and make fun of people who really are that deranged (like the crazy idol fans). I'm sure there are a few such crazy people within the community, but there's no evidence at all that they're the majority.

That aside, though, the manga was on hiatus for years due to the author's health, and this is the first tank release in almost 5 years, so it's going to take some time to build the momentum back. A lot of the people who were reading that magazine 5 years ago may not even be in the fandom anymore. Even if the sales are lower than they once were (we don't know), I don't think the so-called "virgin fiasco" was the primary cause. If the author's able to keep her health, and they're able to build some momentum with the releases again, and anime could help bring attention back to the franchise (though it'll probably never regain its full former popularity simply due to the "new shiny" factor).

I liked Kannagi, and definitely wouldn't mind seeing a sequel for it.

I wouldn't put it ahead of a lot of other things though. The one thing I'd like to be see done soon in Japan soon is another FMP series. It's been way too long.

All these mentions of Kannagi, what about Sword of the Stranger!?

I am really exited about their being a sequel, although I was honestly hoping for a prequel to see how Nanashi was in the past.
