Very interesting. I'm not interested in any of these initial titles, but I would be ecstatic if this eventually opened the doorway for the various Tenchi Muyo novels to finally get translated. They can have all of my money if they do.

I would love to read the novels by Ryohgo Narita.

Would also love to read the Saiunkoku novels if ever translated.

I'd be interested in the original Elemental Gelade series as well as its spinoff title but I'm not too happy about a digital-only release, especially since you can't actually download it into your personal files.

I wish we could see some testimonials from the groups actually doing the work, here. Even though I signed up and passed their tests, once I got to the Agreement stage, I said fark it. They're asking the people involved to take on a LOT of liability on behalf of them, which I guess I can't really go into detail about because there was some non-disclosure thing involved, IDK.

Well, Melinda Beasi, one of the members of the DMG, has been running a blog series called "Inside the DMG". She talks about her experiences with the guild in a very transparent and candid manner. (Okay, I'm probably a bit biased because she happens to be in my group, but she's still a really top-notch reporter.)

A lot of groups also have their own blogs, too (Boys Love Bang Bang, IS+CRU, Cynical Pink). A bunch of us are also on Twitter (search #DMGuild to find a bunch at once).

And, I mean. I personally would be happy to answer any questions you have. I am a typesetter and Group Leader for the group Purple Prose Killers. We've published 4 books so far as a group (Career Gate, Yuri Sensei 1 & 2, and What? Sensei), so I'd say I have some experience. I just hate it when people rag on us based upon misconceptions. Sad

I would love it if the various .hack// light novels (including //ZERO) were translated/retranslated to actually be accurate, and if the Loveless light novels were translated as well.

Agreed. And though I'm a bit biased, I'd love to see Eiji Mikage's Utsuro no Hako to Zero no Maria series get a legit English edition. Hikaru Sugii -- Kamimemo, Sayonara Piano Sonata -- would be another great choice.

Wow, I was thinking almost the exact same thing. With the Doujinshi news, I can now have some small hope that Masaki Kajishima's various doujinshi might eventually make it's way here in some translated form. The Tenchi novels would be awesome as well.

I'm only interested if there's a print-on-demand service available for the LNs. Call me old-fashioned but I ain't ever reading a book on my comp, I only read something I can physically hold and feel.

Might be time to get something that can read ebooks. It's actually not too terrible besides the fact it's a digital file you're reading.

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for Ryohgo Narita's novels (Durarara!! and Baccano.)

...Though I am going to get cramps in my hands at this rate...

Thanks for the links. I skimmed through Melinda's blog and was glad to see the same issues I had with the guild were more or less across the board in the earlier stages. I thought I was just being oversensitive, hah. On that note, it's good to see they've stepped up their game, as well. I remember taking and passing several tests and they never once emailed me to let me know. (Granted, that was around the beginning, so I see that problem was pretty widespread.)

Honestly, I only wanted to know how the groups were faring and how my opinion stacked up with my peers. No ragging intended.

This is great news! While I do not want to read manga except on paper, I'm excited by the possibility of reading light novels in digital form, so long as I can do so on my Sony Reader not, repeat not, online.
