Well I never saw Carnival Phantasm,so i wouldnt be sure. However I did liked Nurse Witch Komugi Chan which was the spinoff of Komugi Nakahara's soultaker character. Then there's the Magical Girl Preety Sammy spinoffs as well as it's TV series.
Also though it was a manga, I also liked Code Geass: Knightmare of Nunnaly. So i am not susprised Ilya got a spinoff series but it seems a lot of the younger characters from popular series have gotten spinoffs.
It's probably a lolicon-otaku tendicies,not that i am complaining of course.
