I've always heard Sakura Wars was a pretty good anime. seems popular i really need to go see it

The game is quite a bit better than the anime. There's translation guides on GameFAQs, too, but only for the Sakura Route. It's funny, because 2, 3, and 4 all have complete translation guides, and 5 was actually released in english.

EDIT: Forgot to mention there's also a translation patch in the works for PC version of the first one.
