So they are already announcing merch details, for the retail release of a series that has yet to premiere. Is this sort of cart-pushing fairly new?

More odd is that there are already OAVs planned. Cannot quite shake the feeling of this being the equivalent of DLC for videos... except more ominous.

Whats weird about them promoting stuff that'll be on the BD/DVD releases? Its better than selling them blindly.
