My favorite part about this is that it already looks like a Hiroshi Hamasaki piece of work.

You can tell just by looking at that color palettes that he is definetly directing this. He also seems to be picky about his work,so I am hoping that script wise this will also be good. |

I'm actually a little surprised that he's back at Madhouse for this one as I was under the impression that a lot of the key staff was dispersed. (Atsuko Ishizuka is at JC Staff doing that Pet show thingy...) That said, I think Hamasaki is probably one of the few anime directors who still really really (like really really) interests me. I'm always up for more of his work. |

Along with the "grain," hyper-detailed machinery, the low-lit and abstract shots, the close-ups and attention to facial muscles, etc. Even if the script sucks, this will look pretty damn awesome. Looking forward to it. |

To the very least, it'll be as entertaining as a Yoshiaki Kawajiri movie.

Has Kawajiri done anything recently? The last thing that I recall is that Highlander movie I keep forgetting to check out (and didn't Hamasaki serve as an assistant on that film?). |

Highlander movie was a lot of fun, but I'd like to one day maybe see Kawajiri's cut of the thing. And yes, Hamasaki was an assistant director; I have my suspicions about which particular scenes he did (the entire sequence surrounding the murder of Marcus Octavius, probably; thing was hella raw), but I won't really know for sure since it's not like this is extensively detailed anywhere. As for Kawajiri, he's apparently still at Madhouse? Anyway, I don't know what's going on lol But I hope he comes out with something new soon... but who knows? I can't comment on the animation directors or anything specific like that, but I'm happy to see the suits being frame-by-frame animated rather than the CG'ed suits. I don't know why, maybe because I grew up on old style mecha anime, but I like to see things hand/cel animated rather than CG forced into an animated feature. Especially when the characters or objects aren't machines, people or other organic objects for example, and look like they were pulled from a Wii game. I think I saw that in "King of a Thorn" and the "Berserk" trailer. I really admire animation studios who still make amazing animated sequences without depending solely on CG animations. Go Madhouse!!
