Looks like reality is really hitting home with this one. Regardless someone just killed themselves over a fictional character. And parents not doing their job and taking the responsibility in talking with their own child about general life issues that even occurs in anime-manga that make them seem real.

that's true. that's why kids nowadays grow up undisciplined and has no respect for adults because parents like them don't do ish to prevent kids from doing something impossible to get back. like perhaps the "life" of a person. and then parents will claim that these stories are at fault that their children are doing things that are not correct. Neutral

Wow, dude! Quit it with the insults over a dead person and write like a civilized person. It surprises me the site didn't block you.

On another point, nobody should take fiction so seriously. These kind of feelings are reserved for real life. Also, spoiler[Itachi is an emotionless mass murderer so I don't see people getting depressed over his death... unless they read that part in which Sasuke learns about his past and how he was ordered to do it as the clan appeared wanted to start a revolution against the village.]

Wow, that's just hilarious! Killing yourself over a Naruto character!

I feel really bad for his parent's though, their son who they probably loved put Naruto before them and killed himself. Now not only will they never be the same after this loss and probably go through years of dealing with this terrible loss, but they'll also know just how much their son actually loved them, spur of the moment or not. Despite him being 14, that's just horrible. I hope wherever he is now that he's fully realized what he's done.

I think it's tragic when someone commits suicide, but i can't understand why someone wants to commit suicide because a fictional character died.

Why don't you show some respect for the deceased ones?

Impossible to blame the author for simply writing a story; where many times a lot things borrowed are either historical events takes place blurring the lines of fictional writing. The parents just made claim that his own kid wasn't able to distinguish between fictional and reality.

As any parents who once a kid themselves should be educating their own child, any life issues that occurs as they grow into adolescences. And this parents doesn't seem to be faze by it, or seem to care that his own child died.

I feel sorry for the parents, losing their child over something as silly as that.

HOLY- I've heard of people saying that as a joke, but...

RIP man. You were probably an awesome Naruto fan, and it's truly a loss for his parents and friends. I wish the best for them, and may he be out of pain.

There were probably some other issues at work. I wouldn't be surprised if this teenager had some serious emotional problems. Russian society doesn't put a big emphasis on conselors for troubled youth, and if what his parents said is true regarding his inability to distinguish reality from make-believe, then, it's likely he was emotionally disturbed.

Sadly, what will usually happen is that the parents will demand that the TV station does something about it instead of actually lobbying for real, meaningful change. Perhaps putting some social programs in place to help young Russians, emotionally, would be the best way to rectify this problem. Clearly, with the high amount of suicides occuring in Russia, there needs to be more qualified conselors on hand to help troubled people.

Thank you! I was worried that my thoughts would get harsh words thrown at me but nothing I say will be as blunt as that.

Anyways, what a clown. Saddest/Funniest part is that had he kept watching he'd have seen that spoiler[Itachi comes back].

I saw this story elsewhere and it was just labeled something like, "Child jumps off roof after watching Naruto" and I thought it was some 6 year jumping off a roof trying to do some ninja moves or something. When I saw that it was a 14 year old doing it because spoiler[Itachi died]... all I could do was facepalm.

Anyways, I hope this doesn't get a harsh light thrown at Naruto. This kid was obviously a nutter.

[EDIT: Spoiler tags are required for information like this. The attitude is highly questionable, too, but not technically against the rules. People are complaining, however, so please be a bit more considerate next time. - Key]

While I have to admit that this is pathetic in my own mind and yes it's going to garner the type of ridicule most of us are aware of. Yes it was stupid, but again we have to be the bigger people here and not chime in like the rest of the "trolling" community. Because it's the type of subject that instigates that type of behavior. No one knows what sort of mindset this kid had that would make him leap from a building over something that one finds so "trivial". And sure while it's easy to blame the parents, what good does that do? Children still grow up having their own set of rules and reality that they keep away from their parents. Just because one grows up in a respectable household doesn't always garner a proper child and vice versa. This is a prime case of those that get so absorbed that it becomes their "only" escape to a warped sense of reality. I've met such people over the years young and old and I myself never quite understood it. I have a cousin who's a big DBZ fan. He's a nice kid but he's into the fandom of it. Thankfully, he has family that he can depend on. I went through a small geek out period but never at this level. Mainly because the "fandom" thing of any kind doesn't make much sense to me. So I've never been able to be absorbed into any fandom of any kind. Kind of like how in church folks fall all over the place. But look at today, we have a generation of children that are nihilistic by definition and mentally stifled to the point that they either turn to a life of crime becoming serial killers, mass murders or commit suicide. For us the community we have to be bigger than that because it could be "someone" we know.

Again it's crazy but my condolences go out to the parents. I hope that they don't think that after this incident with their son that all anime is bad. Because the community doesn't need the type of problems calling forth officials exercising some sort of political action against it.
