Man I just hope the movie is not as bad as people say it is online. Apparently it completely goes off tracks from the original and even from 2.0-----its very different and unexpected from what evangelion is known for, some people even say its no longer eva Sad

I personally have faith in Anno and won't judge before I see it [can't wait for a camrip]

I'm glad it's no longer 1995, I was fully hoping these films would veer off into their own thing, so people can STOP making comparisons and calling them shot-for-shot remakes. From the few spoilers I've heard, sounds like I'll fully enjoy it.

And I don't get those kinds of people. They said outright that Rebuild was not going to be a remake. If I wanted to watch the original, I'd watch the original because it still stands up as really good. I'm really excited that we've apparently gone off the rails, assuming 2.0's ending is anything to go by.

As for the whole 'not really Eva,' I'd say Rebuild was already beaten by Girlfriend of Steel and Shinji Ikari Raising Project to that.

About that Asuka image, they told me she spoiler[is 28 in this film. Shocked Is that for real? Was Sadamoto designing her or Toriyama? (whose Goku never changes even after 60 years)]

I think almost every manga could be given that nick as they are all reboots (with Sadamoto's exception). The one titled Gakuen Datenroku looks like a mix between Evangelion and D.Gray-man to me.

I was referring to the original Girlfriend of Steel, not Angelic Days or Girlfriend of Steel 2, that was a PC/PSP/PS2 game actually. The original takes place DURING the series. Here's a link if you're interested in it.

(Still wish the TRIDENTs were in Rebuild. I just absolutely loved the designs of those things.)

I wonder if anyone from ANN had attended the premiere and might post a review soon. I was surprised to have not seen one yesterday.

From the sounds of synopsises...si...sos...from the sounds of plot descriptions, it feels like Anno spoiler[stole the battleship from Yamato]. And there are several elements I read that feel from so many other works as well, I can't even pinpoint.

Meh, I'll still watch the damn thing.

From what I know thematically it's Eva to the core. This reaction is because people used the original as a reference and completely failed to anticipate what would happen plotwise. For that I bow my head to Anno. As to the quality of the movie I'll judge it when I see it of course.

I do as well, i'm one of the lucky few who caught a live-stream of the movie at the theaters and... it was great. He still has that troll writing sense in him and if hit me damn hard in this movie.

Great news about opening day. I'm sure the fourth will be just as profitable.

I've been trying so hard to avoid spoilers (except for the first 6 min and the list of new characters including spoiler[Toji's sister]....oh, and spoiler["that person" going to die...again]). I can't wait for next year.

Nope. I had already asked and I'm sure that someone from ANN will review it after Funimation releases the DVD/Blu Ray sometime in 2013.

To be honest, when Eva 2.0 came out years ago, I read the day-one spoilers and thought "ugh this sounds so stupid! Anno is trolling us! Tsurumaki is on drugs! How could Khara do this to us!!" but then (after a LONG wait) I finally saw it and was totally blown away by how well-constructed and COOL it was! So even if we're all reeling at the little spoilers trickling in from 2ch and thinking that Eva has "jumped the shark" now, I'm sure I'll be pleasantly surprised by this film when I get to see it, just like I was by the last one!

Anyway, good for Eva 3.0 doing so well in theaters! I hope it keeps it up!!

Eva for me has always been about watching these flawed characters struggling with their past and coming to terms with who they are. If the new movie continues with that, then I'm happy.
Was anyone really expecting the new movie to stick closely to the TV series anyway? After 2.0, it was pretty clear the the third and fourth movies were going in a completely new direction. Not to mention that it had seemed like spoiler[the new movies were continuations of the original series/EoE. 2.0 definitely had quite a few hints that the characters were in a Groundhogs Day (or, in anime terms, a Higurashi) situation, where they were repeating events that had happened previously, but this time around, there were minor changes
that end up drastically effecting what happens in this timeline.]

I'm really dying to read spoilers for the movie, but the urge to see it fresh without knowing what's going to happen is hopefully going to trump my impatience.

People will always talk crap about EVA, don't bother with them.

Some people says that Madoka is the Evangelion of our times, I think that Evangelion is the Evangelion of our times.

Is anyone surprised that the movie broke records? Also whats up with the sword that Asuka is holding in the picture? Its been bugging me for a while now. And of course my goal for avoiding spoilers is lying in flaming ruins now.
