Holder of the FRATERNITY bead.

So much hilarious potential right there that will undoubtedly not be utilized.

Other than that, pretty standard anime fare it seems.

Anime Spotlight is back, though due to the Holiday season, the schedule will be weird.

Given some of the stuff I've already read about the next batch of shows, I think weirdness would be unavoidable in any case. Smile

Interesting characters and backgrounds, a sign of changing times I think.

I don't follow, are you implying anime like that don't happen with any kind of regularity?

Can anyone make heads or tails of that plot summary, or know what the story is actually about?

This is not the first time the Hakkenden legend is made into anime. There was Hakkenden anime that came out in 90's. Pioneer/Geneon released the DVD years ago.

Three orphans (in the standard lead-male, lead-female, rival-male setup) raised like siblings, eight magical macguffin beads, super-special powers and an animal sidekick. The girl can't cook and the boy used to dress up for fujoshi. Also, a frat boy.

What are the chances the rival-boy winds on the ideological opposite side from main-character boy at some point?

I enjoy a good transformation-filled story. We'll see if this one qualifies.

Glad someone remembered this. That OVA series has been in my wishlist for some time, but I was never quite interested enough to pull the trigger. If anyone's interested, I think cheap copies are still available through RightStuf.

It's a pretty unique anime as far as art an animation go. I forgot the animator, but he's that one that everyone knows for melty characters and fluidity. It's a sakuga anime for sure.
