I hope they announce they aren't designing any more monsters.

They really ran out of ideas somewhere around the fourth generation.

Hope they skip RSE remakes, it was always the worst gen.

I'm banking on Gen VI getting simultaneous Japan/NA release date.

No they didn't. You're just a jaded fan from previous gens.

As I once said to my friend, "The gen you started on was amazing, the gen after that one was okay, but the gen after THAT one was awful/horrible/blah blah blah whine".

I also suspect that as well. Maybe it will be a simultaneous JA/US Generation 6 release for both the game and anime universe.

Though I wouldn't mind a remake for Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald. A lot of people like Generation 3,though it looks like your the exception.Don't know why.

I, too, predict Generation III remakes. The GBA is obsolete at this point -- they're necessary.

Except that it's clear the designers were running out of fresh ideas and kept on ramping up the power of the critters to ridiculous degrees. I gave up on Pokemon (besides playing the old games) when the gods of time and space and other such things were introduced. It was like watching Dragonball Z, where each new season the characters got so much stronger that it sort of missed the original point of the story.

Dragon Ball never really had a point, so that's not really a good comparison.

I don't really bother with the games anymore. They're essentially the same thing over and over again (and unlike the anime, there's no harem of girls to fawn over in the episodes or fun, cute adventures) I'd only get back into them if they really mix it up somehow, like no more turn-based stuff and a more action-y fighting system like Tales or Star Ocean or bare minimum the ATB from Final Fantasy). It feels really broken in this day and age. Or at least something besides the '8 badges, take down an evil organization, become Champion' thing they've done since the first one. Though given the money they make I doubt they'll risk changing anything to jeopardize that.

However, it's kind of silly to say the 'new designs suck'. It's always had weird designs. They've all basically re-used the same similar archetype every time.

Just curious. What are you basing this on?

Oh god no. Pokemon needs to stay a good-old turn-based RPG. I would love to see them try to mix the system up however.

Long as the new gen doesn't screw up the competitive metagame I'm cool. It shouldn't, if it survived Stealth rock and Garchomp it can survive anything.

Dragon Ball was a Journey to the West homage with wacky characters possessing crazy powers. I liked much of Dragonball Z, but by the later sagas (especially the Buu Saga) it had just gotten ridiculous, and the power creep was also hard to believe. And don't get me started on GT.

Well this isn't a square enix count down. So I have high hopes for this.

They were the worst selling gen of all of Pokemon, and not always considered a fan-favorite. After playing all gens, I agree. It wasn't that there was so much water, but the dumb decision in throwing VERY low leveled Pokemon into those areas, making the level grind very VERY annoying and long... That's my big gripe with it. If ALL those Tentacools were around lv 30 and didn't randomly show up at lv 6 for whatever reason, I wouldn't have a problem with the gen, really...
