I am sorry, but is this anywhere near the original Kite plot? IIRC, and it has been quite a few years, Sawaspoiler[ was a teenager sexually brutalized by a cop (who killed her parents) who was using her as a gun for hire under the story that she was hunting down her parent's killers]. This plot sounds like your regular "street urchin with the help of a good cop seeks justice," miles away from the original OVA's plot (although I think closer to the second OVA's plot, but I only remember that involved a monster somewhere along the way).

I don't think that's a good cop, if the original Kite is anything to go by.

That is what I said, I don't see Jackson taking a role as a spoiler[rapist/abuser/murderer] and the description:
Quote:
When Sawa's policeman father is killed, she vows to track the murderer down with the help of his ex-partner, Karl Aker (Jackson)
just does not sound like the original.

Oh, SLJ is a bad guy in Django (and of course his breakout hit Pulp Fiction), so despite the description, he can be the bad guy here, kinda like the original. (Of course we won't know for sure until it's finished.)

When Sawa's policeman father is killed, she vows to track the murderer down with the help of his ex-partner, Karl Aker (Jackson) -- unknowing that Aker is the one responsible for the murder of her father........ dun dun duuuuuun! Laughing

He was also a bad cop in that one movie where he harasses his new neighbors. Don't remember the title.

Several of you have mentioned the bad guy roles that SLJ has played before as examples that he could be the bad guy from the OVA, if the movie was faithful to the original. But, remember, there is an angle to his bad guy roles, they are "badass" or have some other cool factor. The bad guy from "Kite" is cartoonishly evil, there was nothing good/fun/interesting about him, just gross despicableness. I can't think of an A or B list Hollywood actor that would play him.
Also, since we are getting off on a bit of a tangent here, I would just like to reiterate my original comment: that the plot description sounds nothing like the OVA I remember, unless they are going for enurtsol's

angle.

Yeah, though he was quite despicable in Django, SLJ do tend to be badass, good or bad. Yet he was a hidden bad guy paraplegic in Unbreakable too. I think SLJ could pull that kind of bad guy off, and built up enough cache not to worry his career. But until then, we'll just have to wait for the plot first.
