Would it be so much to ask that this game have a Japanese voice acting with English text option? Because... that's what I want.

EDIT: Though I suppose having two sets of recorded audio tracks on a single game cart might not fit. I suppose that could be a reason not to have that.

What do they mean by 'almost'? Are they saying there are some scenes that are voiced in the JP version but not in the NA version? or they condensed it down to less lines? Or something else entirely?

My thought is less lines total (perhaps due to translation necessities?). But it could mean there is some appearing text that was voiced in Japan, but not in the US?

English dub is fine but leaving Japanese dub as option as well, otherwise it sucks if there wont be quality, perfect Japanese dub.

It's worth giving the sourced Siliconera article a look - Atlus followed up:
Quote:
Atlus have clarified just what voices were cut in the U.S. version, and it’s a very minor edit. Over on the Atlus forums, they share: “The voicework that was cut was the map NPCs. The reason we cut that was because the JP version used one voice for every type of person: every man had the same voice, every woman had the same voice. It was pretty ridiculous, since these are definitely not the same person. To save time (and, yes, costs for studio work and actors), and to improve the work as a whole, we took out that bit.”

So, nothing too terrible at all (and arguably an improvement).

That doesn't sound bad at all. Especially if it was lazy like that. Surprised Japan didn't hire different VAs for at least some variety in the map NPCs. So I wouldn't call it a true partial dub.

When I read the title, I thought "Why WOULDN'T it be as fully voiced in English as Japanese?", but I guess the "text with no voice" thing makes a bit of sense, though.
