Seeing as she lists Anno and Ai Yazawa as her role models, I totally want her to win now. You go girl! You go kick butt, and look good while doing it!

This is pretty neat and her taste seems impeccable. She comes off as rather humble and a real sweetheart. I always appreciate, even admire, it when somebody in a position favored by the mainstream, a model in this case, has an interest in or passion for something idiosyncratic or marginal. (Even if it's less so than it would be in the west) I hope that she succeeds.

Manga isn't all that marginal in Japan, though. Anime is.

"Meh" face for a beauty pageant queen. 6/10. Would not... uh... serialize.

She's very pretty when she doesn't have that Fran-Drescher squinty-rictus grin on her face.

You'd think a model could look genuinely happy on command.

I find it kind of worrying that she thinks a decision made at 25 years of age is a "final challenge". When I think of "final challenge" I imagine myself, at 60-70 years of age, spontaneously deciding to take a world-tour, not changing careers at 25 (heck, I'm 20 and with no hopes of getting my college degree in less than 2-3 years).

Laughing Razz Surprised I've been trying think of how to describe her facial expression, but you've hit it right on the head

I'm not sure if this should be replied to seriously, but the only "meh" thing about her face is the point Mikeski made. Honestly not any worse than most other "pageant queens".

Well, he is a doctor...

I just hope she isn't another product created by Japan in an attempt to spread the word about manga and anime to the rest of the world. If she's genuine then good for her.

It's Japan. It's messed up.
You're peaking at life with 18-19.
Then you get a job, get married, have some kids and from there on it's over.
With 25, kids are calling you a geezer.
Once you hit 30, you already have one foot in the grave. You might as well have the decency to do yourself and the rest of Japan a favor and commit Seppuku.

Source: Anime taught me that.

Also, ya guys gotta remember, Miss Universe Japan sends someone who has a chance of winning Miss Universe - that means sending beautiful mature-acting women, not kawaii girls mousy look.
