I really want to see Goro succeed. Especially since his father's Ponyo was essentially an apology to him.

I honestly have no idea what American critics have been saying about the movie, but I do know that myself and everyone I've ever watched it with have all loved it. Definitely check it out if you're interested.

The reviews have been OK. It's not going to be critically savaged.

I have seen it and I rank it somewhere in the middle of Ghibli's library. It's better than 1 or 2 Hayao Miyazaki movies, and better than most of the movies not directed by Takahata or Hayao, Whisper of the Heart being an exception of course.

I'd say it's on par with Arrietty.
