I hope it can live beyond it's tremendously cliched premise, but I try to keep no expectations for greatness.

Between two major powers — the Dorrssia Military Pact Federation and the Atlantic Ring United States (ARUS) — there is a small neutral nation called JIOR that has prospered economically.

So we got the Free Planets Alliance, Galactic Empire, and the neutral Fezzan which profits from the war between the first two. I guess I can check this out.

I am intrigued enough to try this series. Also, it is interesting that Crunchyroll is going to stream another series from a Daisuki partner.

Something tells me it is going to be missing the complexities of the series you are referring to.

T.M. Revolution and Nana Mizuki are performing the opening theme song "Preserved Roses" together. Angela is performing the first ending theme song, and the singer elisa is performing the second ending theme song.

Possibly sold. T.M + Nana Mizuki? ELISA + Angela? It's almost like a dream come true. Can't comment on how it will turn out but it's something to look forward to at least.

There are no original plots left when you boil them down so it becomes more important that the characters, setting, execution and production are good. I just hope the CGI mecha aren't too awful..PV looked OK.

And the region rights are the narrowest for a Crunchyroll simulcast in quite a while ~ no Australia / New Zealand, no South Africa, no Nordic countries, no Latin America.

There's a difference between being completely original and simply changing the names and dates of the places and calendar and calling the show under a different title. This is unoriginal as in they seem to be copying Gundam on purpose.

That's kind of how I feel. Sure, most plots have been done, I definitely dont fault any series for that. But it really sounds almost copy and paste. I haven't heard much that does show some differentiation. Doesnt mean it isnt going to be good.

The underlying question is whether or not that will still be true in context, since just replacing words in a very basic plot summary can turn out to be misleading, and whether or not the execution is good enough to mix things up a little more in practice.

I'm not expecting much overall originality either, to be honest, but I'd be more interested in Valvrave than I am now if they actually come up with a different gimmick that's just being kept out of the spotlight. Which is why I'll still watch two or three episodes myself.

The biggest potential difference, so far, would be that the original RX-78-2 Gundam wasn't actually a "mysterious weapon" that could "change the world" as Valvrave itself claims to be, which sounds like more of a Super Robot concept than merely being a powerful prototype used by one of the factions at war. In theory, they could use that as a launching point to either break or at least twist around some expectations.

But if it just doesn't work out, which is also possible, I'll move on to bigger and better things since there's no lack of those out there.

Definitely, I was watching a Korean historical drama about the Korean three kingdoms period, and its plot was so obviously ripped from Gundam it wasn't funny.
