Better than having a picture of your girlfriend in your room, amirite?

This is equally cool and creepy at the same time.

This is great, though it be weird buying one of yourself---it would be even creepier if your GF/BF walks into your room and sees a figure of himself/herself

Man, I'm not sure how coloring would work, but with the ever-cheaper 3-D printers out there, I can't help but think this would be really cool. If nothing else (and I'm sure there's more), it would give those semi-pro cosplayers another way of monetizing all the hours they spend on their craft, or maybe decent, easily customizable miniatures for TTRPG's. $500 seems pretty high though, if the figure is actually directly derived from the 3-d model. Could just be the otaku tax at work though.

Not that creepy given your GF/BF would have to have given you the figure themselves, so they are going to expect it in your room. It's not like you can sneakily get a full-body scan of them done without them knowing. Razz

Lol. Taking wedding photography to the next step. You have a wedding, then you hire these people to make figures of you, so you can have a bride and groom figure set of yourselves to put on top of the cake for your weddi...

Time paradox!

Pop Idols could also use this for, in effect, 'burn on-demand' figures that fanboys could order. They'd have to make a deal with Sony to get a percentage for their agency and themselves, but that would probably be just an addition to their regular contracts for music CDs and all the other stuff they do.

It might be a lot easier than going through the usual toy/figurine company's that do anime characters.

Addition: Didn't see it before, but this is being done by Sony Music Communications. So seems a fair bet to me that they are interested in promoting their singers.

Suddenly that lackluster of The Big Bang Theory where they bought such dolls--at such absurd prices--became slightly funnier.
