Considering the route it's been heading, I'm not surprised at this all. Seems like a lot of manga are ending recently though like Hungry Joker that has already ended, Gantz, and this..

It's currently the elimination round in Weekly Sonen Jump. It seems there will be a third series ending next week, or the new manga will take Medaka Box.

Wait Hungry Joker is already over? How many chapters does it have?

This is probably the least surprising cancellation I've seen in a long, long time. I had hopes for it, but after a few chapters I stopped reading. Maybe it could have survived in another magazine, but the odds of it surviving in Jump were slim to none. I hope Shokugeki no Souma continues to do well; I really look forward to each new chapter.
