"Ito also donated his personal scripts for episodes 2-13 of the series with production notes and autographed sketches from the character designers and a sketch by Ito himself."

I was lucky enough to win one of these scripts in the charity auction and once I can get into the forums I'll post some scans for everyone. It is insanely cool. I bought it just for the script and sketches without even knowing about the production notes tucked into the book so when I opened it and found those it was just an awesome bonus. It was expensive, but worth every penny.

(Mine is Episode 5)

There are still forums right? I've been away for a while so I'm hoping they didn't get deleted or anything. I assume they're just having technical problems right now?

Here are some scans from Tomohiko Ito's Sword Art Online #5 script. I was so happy to see something like this available because the problem I have with conventions is that I'm a fan of subtitles. Getting an English voice actor's autograph doesn't particularly interest me because I never watch dubs. Because of that, I never seem to buy many unique anime related things.

This... was the total package.

1) It's an original Japanese script for an anime episode.

2) It was the director's person script, with handwritten corrections and additions to the dialogue. It's probably one of the few times the visible wear and use actually adds to the character of the item.

3) It had not one, but TWO hand drawn sketches and signatures on the cover by the director and a character designer who worked on the series.

4) It contained original production notes made during the creation of this particular episode. (Something I would expect would just get thrown out afterwards...)

I'm glad there were 12 episodes of scripts available, because if there was only 1 I'm afraid I might not have been able to bid enough for it. It's funny just how excited I am over it, and it's a show I've never even seen. (But will now!)

Sooo... Here are the front and back covers- Each side with a sketch, although I'm not sure which is by Ito and which is the character designer. I suspect the front sketch of Asuna in red is by the character designer, and the back sketch is by Ito, but would be interested in confirmation of this if anyone can read the Japanese signatures.

(I'd also be interested to know what the writing in the scene on the back says if anyone could translate that.)

This a page from the interior of the script, where you can see lines have been crossed out and changed.

Finally, here are some scans of the production notes that were included inside the script. I scanned the pages that included sketches, but there are several other pages with lots of numbering and writing that isn't quite as interesting if you don't speak Japanese =)

So there you go, I just thought this was too neat not to share. It's not often you get such an inside look on the making of an episode like this. Awesome stuff!
