It seems like every single backer is asking them to reconsider their online, digital DRM stance. From the update it seems like they had debated and knew it would be controversial too, and I think it may be due to pressure from the other rights holders involved with Pale Cocoon and Mizu no Kotoba. They could avoid that if they publish on an extra DVD, but that would involve extra costs.

I would totally understand if this decision was due to pressure from the other rights holders. The problem is, the only reasons they've given us so far, is that we (The backers) would prefer it. Which from the amount of comments, I'd say is not true hahaha

While I already own Pale Cocoon on DVD (old letterboxed Japanese release with English subtitles released when it first came out), I would gladly wait a few extra months if they included it and Aquatic Language as SD extras on the Blu-ray disc, both anamorphic (altho I can't remember if Aquatic Language's OAR was 1.37 or 1.78). I'm not sure how possible it is for something like that, but it would essentially cover most of Yasuhiro Yoshiura's work.

I would prefer them as extras and would happily pay more for this to be the case. Knowing my luck I will forget that I have the downloads when they become available. Hopefully they will email backers with the links.

Seeing as the movie & OVAs are already available online, both legitimately and not, why not just delay the release until the new year & add the extras to the blu-ray? Apparently the fan book isn't available until February anyway. People are pledging to see the official package, not the opportunity to watch the works straight away. They should take their time on this.

The longer and longer this Kickstarter goes and the better and better it gets, the more and more I feel like a total idiot and sucker for supporting the original English subtitled release.

Ahhh.... As I read the title of the article I was almost about to cheer out loud at work and finally break down and back the project despite being low on funds.... Then I saw the word "Downloads" and got sad. If they would just go ahead and delay the release and added it to the Blu-ray instead (why can't you just put SD video on BD?), I would get it in a heartbeat. I might still back Time of Eve regardless, but having these two anime on disc as a bonus would just put it as a must-have.

Damn, well there goes my hopes that Pale Cocoon would either get it's own Kickstarter with a dub, or that Funimation would license and release it.

An update has been sent stating that the $55 tier will include both on DVD after the 1st of Jan 2014 (due to licensing issues) - this should please a lot of people.

Yeah, I'm really happy they changed their minds and were able to clear the rights for the other two on video, even if that means pushing the release date. Bluray pledges would either get an extra DVD or the SD content included. They also mentioned pushing the release date back would give them extra time to work on the dub.
