Yes! Very Happy I thought they would add this series but it's nice to see a confirmation.

I'm impressed at the speed that they added this. I figured they would add it, but not this fast! I look forward to checking this out!

A lot of people were hoping it would be a battle manga, but Toriyama prefers comedy. It might become a battle manga like Dragon Ball, or it could stay a comedy like Dr. Slump. It should be interesting either way.

Honestly, I doubt it'll be more than a 1 volume series like sandman was. Toriyama hasn't done any long works since Dragonball ended, and I'm not sure I see a reason to suspect that he'll start now

Yay, more Toriyama! I'm currently reading Dragon Ball, and it's so different from what DBZ became. DB is a fun adventure, DBZ is battle, reading my cheapo omnibus, it's hard to believe this turned into DBZ, so I'm really hoping this new series will stay in the fun comedy/adventure realm because I don't honestly need another shonen battle manga and I love his fun quirky series a lot. And if it's just a one volume thing, I'm fine with that too, both Sandland and Cowa! were great one volume series.

Sweet. I loved Toriyama's Kintoki one-shot, the man's still got it.

What I'm really excited about is that the news item says this is only one of THREE new weekly coming to WSJ. So excited!

I'm guessing this series is the only one coming to the US WSJ actually. The other 2 series are just new ones being brought in for the 3rd quarter in Japan.

I'm curious to see how this is received. So far the 3 series given simultaneous US releases have had less-than-stellar results all things considered. Barrage got axed before it even hit 20 chapters, Cross*Manage has been ranking in the bottom for months now, and World Trigger hasn't exactly set the popularity polls on fire.

One Punch Man is one of the greatest comics ever created by man or god.

I vote it number 1 on every weekly survey. Because it is the best in life.

Maybe. But I don't see any reason why they couldn't debut in US Jump as well.

Does anyone know what the current Japan Shonen Jump line-up is, compared to US Jump? I'm curious as to what we don't get.

Well we have some tittles that are not in Weekly Jump and are just in other shonen Shuesia mags. Like Blue Exorcist, One-Punch Man, Yugioh Zexal. Dragonball Z is of course just there for the recolored sayian saga. So we have 7/19 from weekly jump. I'm surprised they haven't jumped on Ass Class. They might pick up more given One-Punch Man is going monthly when they catch up.

The current lineup is listed at the WSJ Wikipedia page.

I keep up with the current lineup and its rankings via the Arlong Park Forums WSJ TOC thread, here's a link to the most recent rankings posting.

Yeah, it's looking like Cross Manage is definitely out as well as Koisuru Edison, and Sket Dance which is just ending, not necessarily axed. Too bad because CM was one of my favorites. But if it has to go, a new Toriyama series to replace it is the best consolation I could ask for, I suppose!

Interesting, for some reason I thought we had a higher percentage of manga from Jump then that. From the look of it they rolled out a bunch of new series in May that we didn't get. That sucks.

The new series / cancellations come in waves of 3... I think like 3 or 4 times a year?

The recent big hit that Viz sorta missed the boat on was Assassination Classroom. And, to somewhat a lesser extent Shokugeki no Soma.

I can see why Viz would have cold feet about AssClass, with the issue of school violence being so sensitive in this country. I've read some of it, and it has a really good premise with an interesting mystery, but I found it difficult to be interested in any of the characters except Korosensei.

As for Soma, I haven't read it, but it looks like an ecchi food comic? The author is even a former hentai artist or something? People seem to like it pretty well, but I can see why Viz passed on it.
