The Witch and The Hundred Knights is a PS3 game, not 3DS.

Looks like Last of Us didn't live up to the hype in Japan. Too bad. It didn't even sell 200k in 1 month. How pathetic. Got 38/40 by Famitsu at least. Very Happy

It sold 20k more in its first week than whatever the hell Dragon Crown is supposed to be. I'll consider that quite the success considering how averse to western games Japan can be.

I think the "Yo ge kuso ge" shtick was shit made up by Western games, who are overly critical their own games. Loads of non JP made games sell decent and get high scores on Famitsu. The most popular American game was Crash Bandicoot 2, which sold over 1 million copies. Also, COD MW3 sold over 610,000 copies and got a near perfect from Famitsu, as well as Black OPs. COD seems to sell more than Sonic over there.

Over a 100,000 for a new ip, western game, and what the highest creo rating? In a place where hd console games hardly sell that if thier lucky.

Yeah sounds like a failure.

Dude, it didn't beat Call of Duty 9

It's a total failure.

Wut? DC sold 170,000 LOU barely just reached that number. Not sure what you're talking about >_> Dragon Crown also has much more buzz and popularity in Japan if you look at their figures, doujin, and fanart production

Last of Us was a dud in Japan, just accept it. It's a game only Americans would find interesting.

And Europeans.

But yeah I'll let this slide. As long as I can say Japan dosen't care about NIS games, Gust games, JRPGS not called DQ, FF, or Pokemon, and whatnot on HD consoles. Because I mean thats what you're basically saying here by trying to say that The Last of Us sales means it was a dud. I mean The Last of Us sold about as much if not more then those games even without the context of what it was.

I'm not even sure why TLoU came up if not to try and push some stupid agenda.

Wow, you need to start toning down the "if it's western it sucks and all western people are the worst people" rhetoric. Prejudice has no place here and your soapboxing and obvious bias is already getting old.

Here's some hard data:

In comparison to Famitsu Japan 2012 Top 100 Games, with sales of 179k so far would already put Last of Us the 15th best-selling PS3 game that year.

As for the first half of this year Famitsu Top 100 - From 2012.12.31 to 2013.06.30, at 162k by June 30th (released 2013.06.20) puts it in the Top 10 PS3 games for the first half (and 23rd in all systems).

By now with at least 179k plus some more would put it higher up passing Pro Baseball Spirits 2013 (2013.03.20), Devil May Cry (2013.01.17), and Resident Evil: Revelations (2013.05.23), with only Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2, Dynasty Warriors 8, Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX, Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, Gundam Breaker (2013.06.27), and Earth Defense Force 4 (2013.07.04) above it. So not bad at all for a new IP and not a sequel nor a well-known brand.

[Note: Though it can be harder to judge titles with both PS3 and PSV releases since many PSV owners do not own PS3s, plus of those who own both systems, not all of the PSV game buyers would had bought the PS3 version of the game instead (so we can only speculate that the sales would be at least the # of PS3 game sales but not as high as PS3 + PSV game sales put together).]
