Yeah, I'll wait this out and all their other DVD-only releases out. Vividred is another upcoming one. Reverse importation fears I guess. A year or so later they could release the blu-rays.

Not sure what a blu-ray doe is, but the Japanese video release literally finished two weeks ago (volume 10 released 09/25/2013). Any release in 2014 while S2 was being released would be likely DVD-only. Plus it's cheaper for AoA to make since it's not farmed back to Qtec in Japan like BDs are.

Maybe the deluxe Blue Exorcist and Fate/Zero blurays didn't sell as well as they hoped?

Maybe it hasn't been long enough in their eyes after the Japanese blurays were released?

Maybe they just don't think the fanbase for Magi in America is big enough to justify putting out super-pricey bluray sets?

Could be any number of reasons, honestly. Doesn't matter to me, as I'm just going to be watching the show in HD via Neon Alley anyways.

He meant to say "Why no blu ray, though?"

As for me, I'll be holding out for a blu ray release as well. Assuming that doesn't happen, importing will be the way I go.

this makes me worried for shows like Silver Spoon come this time next year. I really want BD for it! : )

As for this release of Magi, I really don't know, It's pricey for DVD only but it does have a dub.

At least maybe it wont be as expensive (by AoA standards anyway).

Usually when they have the BluRay Deluxe and the DVD standard releases, I end up buying neither since the BR is too expensive and the DVD, while sorta in my price range, makes me feel like Im just buying something inferior and makes it feel like its not worth it. I wouldnt be surprised if other people with a similar mentality has hurt their sales in the past.

Since there is no "better" Bluray version (yet) I may actually be more inclined to buy this release

Which is kinda ironic for me cause unlike SAO, I actually liked Magi enough where I might've actually bought expensive BRs if they released them kinda like they did SAO lol (which isnt to say I encourage these high prices, Aniplex. I would support more of your releases more often if they were quality and affordable)

Aniplex is releasing them only on dvds because of fears of reverse importation by those in Japan. They want otakus in japan to buy the local releases instead (which cost 4x much?) so that the studios can earn more revenue

Will definitely wait for the blu-ray. These DVD store prices aren't horrible for a normal MSRP (they're only a little more than FUNi's original 13-episode Soul Eater DVD sets), but unfortunately since they won't be discounted, still making them expensive as hell. PLEASE for the love of GOD sell these on more sites. I still can't afford these at those prices.

Everyone's complaining about no Blu-rays and I'm just over here happy as can be that it'll on DVD! Anime hyper

(I still have an older CRT TV and no Blu-ray player so...as long as anime is still being put on DVDs I'm a happy fangirl! lol)

Yeah, seems obvious knowing them.

Would really like blu-rays especially with the dub already happening which I'm happy about.
