It'll have the director of Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-Chan and Magical Witch Punie-chan, who's done mostly comedy. What an interesting choice.
And one of the scriptwriters will be be the woman who wrote three of my favorite episodes of Cowboy Bebop* and a bunch of Princess Tutu. Both of the writers have considerable experience writing comedy, which, given the director's experience, I imagine should set some of our expectations. I'm willing to consider giving his a chance. Perhaps it could make for a serviceable guilty pleasure, at least so long as the powerful female character's devotion to the wimpy male lead is kept in check. Ayaka's breasts are pretty absurd, but she's not emaciated otherwise, so here they sort of work as part of creating an imposing physical presence. I suppose that I have a weakness for intimidating boobs.

The interesting choice is focusing on those two short titles in particular; it's odd that considering the number of series I have from Mizushima that I have to keep looking up his name though it does explain why I have Genshiken, Kujibiki Unbalance and Squid Girl next to each other on my shelf. He also directed Another, Girls Und Panzer and Hare + Guu which I all watched and enjoyed without even thinking of looking up the director. "Mostly comedy" is quite the term; Broad, absurdist, slice of life, intellectual and outright black comedy and that's not even counting whatever Squid Girl is. Weird comedy, is that a thing? Anyway, I didn't even know this manga was being adapted but I'm intrigued just from Mizushima's involvement. |

I have enjoyed the manga, but it doesn't have that many chapters out. I guess there is probably enough for 12 episodes... I hope they do a good job with it.
