well that sequence was fricken amazing, anyone know if we are to expect more in part two?

Perhaps, but I doubt it. The sequence was specific to the character that Uma Thurman fought against, who was part Japanese (in the movie anyway) and done in a form that was modelled after the Japanese style cinema in general. Likewise, the first killing in the movie, where she killed that black woman, the style of that part of the movie seemed more along the lines of the genre once called "blaxploitation" (I don't know what they call it now-- I hope no one takes offense).
I suspect that with the rest of the villains, each battle scene will be done in keeping in whatever genre seems to suit the villain best |

Just because a black person's in it doesn't mean it qualifies as
blaxploitation. That's a mistake people made with Jackie Brown as well. |

You might also consider they couldn't get away with the pedophile mafia boss in a live-action sequence... ratingswise that is  . But yeah, the anime segment was done very well. Some close-up shots of young O-ren reminded me bit of Saya from Blood TLV (same company, I know, but still...)

Um, I didn't say the movie was blaxploitation. I said the scene was inspired by it. Remember he borrowed from all sorts of movie styles to make this and he said it was a homage to all the old movies. The main point was that the sequence involving O-Ren was done in anime style partially as a homage to Japanese cinema (and yes, partially to avoid the NC17 rating, since the animation was seen as less explicit than live action to the MPAA according to both tarantino and Valenti) |

And the anime scene was done because Tarantino didn't a real little girl to witness such a horrible scene.

That makes no sense at all, there's this scene in the kitchen early in the movie where a little girl also sees 'her mother' get killed. |

It was rated R in the U.S. I don't think pedophilia had anything to do with that part being animated. The most likely reason for why it is animated is that Tarantino himself thought that sequence would look cool in anime form instead of live action.
