and its #24 on weekend gross which is NOT bad for a foreign subtitled non-erotic lesbian surrealist fantasy animated film!

Wish I could've helped those numbers but again, Aniplex hates Nebraska.

Saw it yesterday. I don't think I'm part of this number, but I can say that it was some totally well spent money. The movie was awesome.

I cannot help but wonder how this series would have fared in North America under someone other than AOA's guidance.

Considering that by all measures its a smashing success, probably not as well.

It's not playing here in Philadelphia either. Sad

Well, it might be a smashing success, with its limited availability, but I think it could have been more if there had been more locations to view it.

I think that is what Mark Gosdin was referring to.

If the show had gotten a Fathom release, I know there would have been several theatres in the Hamptom Roads area of Virginia that would be showing it. Eureka 7 the movie was shown that way.

I am not saying Fathom is the route to go, but it is the only example that I personally know of.

Now we could only 'regard the forums with envious eyes, and slowly but surely draw up plans to seize the BD's'. Of course, when they are available.

Agreed I think Aniplex USA did not do a good job with distributing this movie.

Of course I am biased because this is my city, but Philadelphia is one of the biggest cities in the US and we didn't get the movie. I can't even fathom that. And if we didn't get the movie I am sure there are plenty of other big cities they left out.

When Aniplex showed the 1st two films in "Philadelphia" it was outside the city and not convenient to get to.

I am thinking that they thought well it is playing in NY which is close enough, but you shouldn't have to travel 2 hours just to see a movie. And the fact that it was playing only late at night also made the logistics of getting there difficult.

So sure it is great it is a success but the argument that it could have been a bigger success is perfectly valid when people who want to see it or shut out.

Our theater:

We drove thru snowing, and we still had extra seats since a couple friends couldn't make it. Laughing

Anyways, this also shows how well Frozen and Hunger Games are doing - it's already their 3rd weekend.
