Wait, how is the character of Aoshi going to fit into this film if he wasn't in the first one?

It's a retelling, in the retold Manga, Aoshi wasn't initially there when Kenshin confront Kanryuu

The production pictures certainly indicate a bigger-budget feel to the movies. I'm definitely looking forward to getting the Blu-rays.

I'm definitely looking forward to these movies - the first one was a surprisingly good, fun take on the story.

Even with two movies' worth of space, though, there are some decisions that leave me scratching my head - like Aoshi's inclusion (which in the manga made sense because of the earlier arc that had focused on him). An even bigger one is that I see an actor is cast for Fuji, the giant, which was a fight fit only for the grand Seijuro Hiko. It doesn't seem that Hiko is going to be in these films, which makes sense - no time for a training power-up arc! But who else is overpowered enough to take on a guy as tall as a 2-story building?

I also hope they'll stick as much as possible to trying to do stunts "manually" instead of just opting for CG in every possible place. That worked pretty well for them in the first film, though I'm sure the effects needed for things like Cho's ribbon sword, Soujiro's speed, and Shishio's flame attacks will probably need some fancy post-production work.

Curious how it'll all turn out - I'm still hoping someone licenses the first movie in the U.S., too.

I love the comments of the cast, they always show how dedicated these people are, and what a great team they make Smile (No wonder the first movie was so awesome.)

There are speculations (based on leaked info, so not ordinary fangirl dreams) that Fukuyama Masaharu plays the role, but it hasn't been either announced or confirmed. It's seems plausible, though. (We need another good guy against Shishio's team, but I wonder how the master-apprentice background would work out with all the story they have to fit in 4-5 hours.)

Seijuro Hiko is going to be played by Masaharu Fukuyama. I don't believe they've released any photos of him yet on the set.
